The U.S. Mission in Accra is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for these various positions.

1. Human Resources Assistant

Evaluations and Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of administrative/clerical experience, including one year in human resources, is necessary.
  • Education: A two-year college education is required.
  • LANGUAGE: English must be written and spoken fluently. This might be tested.
  • Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

2. Political Assistant

Evaluations and Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE: Candidates must have at least one year of experience in political analysis or working in the human rights or democracy fields.
  • Education: A university degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, or History is essential.
  • LANGUAGE: English fluency is necessary. It is necessary to communicate (speak, read, and write). (Language ability may be evaluated).
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good judgment and discretion are required. Microsoft suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet proficiency are required. (Computer abilities may be evaluated).

3. Administrative Assistant 

Evaluations and Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience working in an office environment is required.
  • Education requirements: A high school diploma and two years of college-level studies.
  • LANGUAGE: Advanced proficiency/fluency in reading, speaking, and writing in English is required. This might be tested.

4. Assistant Community Liaison Office Coordinator

Evaluations and Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three years of professional experience is required, which may include but is not limited to administration, office management, customer service, program management, or public policy.
  • Education Requirements: A minimum of two years of college or university study is necessary.
  • LANGUAGE: Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing skills are essential. This might be tested.
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products. Good interpersonal skills are required to work with people from various cultures and interests. Flexibility in working hours. A Top Secret Security Clearance must be obtained.

5. Customer Service Representative

Evaluations and Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of progressive experience in customer service management in an Embassy or similar setting in an English-speaking environment is essential, with an emphasis on written communication, camera operation, and photo design and production.
  • JOB EXPERIENCE: Understanding of political intricacies as well as cultural variety and sensitivity; knowledge of good customer service, negotiating, and scheduling, as well as how to negotiate with consumers Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office) and managerial practices; record keeping are required.
  • Requirements for Education: Secondary school graduation is required.
  • LANGUAGE: Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English. (This might be checked).

5. Commercial Assistant 

Evaluations and Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in Ghana in one or more sectors of marketing, international trade, economics, trade promotions, and marketing analysis/research in a firm, government, or industry organization.
  • JOB EXPERIENCE: Comprehensive understanding of the host country’s economy, commercial and industrial structures, business and industrial conventions and practices, trade and investment laws, regulations, and policies. Understanding of international trade (terms and procedures). Understanding of trade and investment legislation, rules, and regulations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, economics, marketing, international trade, or international affairs, or the equivalent in the host country, is required.
  • Evaluations: You may add the line “This may be tested” after a language, skill, or ability. For particular information, consult the VA template.
  • LANGUAGE: Fluency in speaking/reading/writing English and one of Ghana’s local languages is required, as is the capacity to translate. (This might be tested.)
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES: It is vital to have strong interpersonal skills, salesmanship, critical and analytical thinking, problem-solving, judgment, and the ability to proactively assess hurdles and create solutions to assure programmatic success.
