Job Title: Human Resources Support
The Regional Office for Africa (RAF) is in charge of leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture, and rural development. This is done by identifying, planning, and carrying out FAO’s most important activities in the region. It makes sure that programs use a multidisciplinary approach, figures out what the Organization’s top priorities are in the region, and works with departments and divisions at headquarters to develop, promote, and oversee FAO’s strategic response to regional priorities.
RAF also gives advice on how to include regional priorities in the Organization’s Program of Work and Budget. It also puts approved programs and projects into action in the region, monitors the level of program implementation, and brings problems and shortcomings to the organization’s attention. Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs) are one type of regional institution that RAF builds and keeps in touch with.
The Regional Office helps people in the region talk about food security, agriculture, and rural development policies, makes it easier for regional partnerships to form, and helps people in the region build their skills and find resources to help with food security, agriculture, and rural development.
The post is in Accra, which is in Ghana.
Lines of Reporting
The Human Resources Support will do his or her job under the overall supervision of the Regional HR Officer and the day-to-day supervision of the RAF National HR Officer and HR Assistant. The person in this position will do the following things.
Technical Focus
Human Resources Support helps out and takes care of all the support tasks for human resources. He or she makes sure that the data and processes in his or her area of responsibility are accurate, clear, and consistent. This helps the human resources operations run smoothly.
Tasks And Responsibilities
- Analyze, answer, and follow up on a wide range of complex human resources requests and questions from staff and non-staff. Give advice on relevant human resources rules and procedures.
- Coordinate support services for hiring and taking care of employees and non-employees. Start a wide range of personnel actions, like appointments, extensions, transfers, etc.
- Help with the hiring process by making interview schedules, setting up audiovisual and teleconferences, getting in touch with applicants and interview panel members, checking references and university accreditation, etc.
- Help staff get briefed and debriefed, and give them information about their rights and the details of their contracts.
- Coordinate the hiring process for all types of employees and non-employees. This includes making job profiles and vacancy announcements, talking to applicants, and putting together job offers and terms of employment.
- Work as part of a team to review and approve selection reports for the international affiliate workforce. This is done by communicating directly with the offices that hire people and the RAF-ADG/RR Office. Help write and look over selection reports for all kinds of selection processes, especially those written in French.

Minimum Requirements
- People are required to go to secondary school. Degree from a college or university in political or social sciences, law, administration, or a similar field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in policy assistance, program development and management, rural development, poverty reduction, rural employment, or agribusiness, with experience in promoting youth employment in agriculture, agribusiness, and entrepreneurship.
- You must know enough English to get by.
- A citizen of Ghana or someone who is allowed to live there legally.

Technical Skills
- Having a working knowledge of French is a plus.
- Very good knowledge of the UN Common System’s staff rules and regulations, HR policies, and HR procedures will be seen as a plus.
- Having experience with HR data analysis and reporting.
- Very good knowledge of ERP HR software like SAP and Oracle.
- Experience working in a multicultural and fast-paced setting is a plus.
