ROLE: Head of Partnerships, Digital Skills, and Inclusion

As the Institute grows, partnerships are a strategic way to provide more impact at scale by contributing experience, resources, and technologies that accelerate economic and social development and secure enduring change for countries.

Partnership and Initiatives prioritize digital skills and inclusion for public officials and citizens. TBI Digital Academy demonstrates our goals. We are collaborating with partners to teach public servants tech literacy in pilot regions and content verticals to establish this project and platform.

TBI aims to be the “go to” organization for progressive leaders and governments, delivering Policy, Strategy, and Delivery using Tech as an enabler. TBI’s objective requires the Head of Partnerships, Digital Skills, and Inclusion to design and deliver a product. The post will develop our Digital Skills and Inclusion project globally and the collaboration platform to include public servant and citizen capacity building.

This post will focus on accelerating regional impact through The Tomorrow cooperation, our flagship cooperation platform. The Tomorrow Partnership helps leaders, countries, and communities use technology for good by partnering with governments, IT businesses, experts, and innovators.

The Head of Partnerships, Digital Skills, and Inclusion will have specialized skills, networks, and interests in education/skills development, capacity building, technology and innovation, digitisation, public policy, and government delivery. The position requires a natural convener and networker who can creatively uncover synergies and avenues to further our Digital Skills and Inclusion goal. In a highly matrixed organization, the Head of Partnerships, Digital Skills, and Inclusion must collaborate and deliver across structures.

Key Duties

The Director of Global Tech Partnerships will oversee the following:

  • Develop a global plan to build TBI’s Digital Academy into a specialized portfolio of partnerships for Digital Skills and Inclusion that matches government client needs and TBI’s objectives. The plan should target significant technology businesses and like-minded international organizations and develop an ecosystem of regional delivery and content partners.
  • Set and meet yearly Digital Skills partnership OKRs that align with and support Department OKRs.
  • TBI Digital Academy pilot regions.
    • Refine and develop new plan for our Digital Skills and Inclusion agenda.
    • Prioritize geographic and content vertical expansion and collaborate accordingly.
    • Create a delivery team from matrixed TBI resources.
    • Determine Academy impact metrics for TBI, client governments, and partners.
    • Help our communications staff expand the Academy’s reach.
    • Work with TBI teams and partners to solve implementation problems and improve effect.
  • Set strategy, identify opportunities, and grow the partnerships platform to deliver citizen digital literacy – the post holder will prioritize different skills building (e.g., government services versus digital literacy).
  • Collaborate with our Global Innovation Unit and Global Client Solutions teams to do partner tech due diligence.
  • Propose and assist the rollout or production of in-house assets essential to the Digital Skills and Inclusion strategy.

Person Specification

This senior leadership post requires a talented applicant who wants to extend their portfolio:

  • Passionate about TBI’s mission and principles
  • Experience leading partnerships and/or high-level relationship management for large tech companies and managing contracts
  • Experience and a strong network in IT and digitisation, government delivery experience, and public policy knowledge are desired.
  • A history of building and maintaining cross-organizational partnerships
  • Experience in partnership mechanics, financial models, and portfolio needs ensures partnerships are operationally functional.
  • Proven leadership ability—able to define strategic direction, encourage teams to collaborate to achieve extraordinary goals, and not afraid to be hands-on to achieve results
  • Strategic thinker who can challenge the status quo and plan for hard goals
  • Excellent written and spoken communicator and influencer from executive office to a technical level, adept at speaking to senior leadership.
  • A natural networker and convener who can manage many external ties in a matrixed internal organization.
  • A self-starter and entrepreneur who can adapt to fast-changing and growing business environments.
  • Proven ability to manage several projects, delegating and managing details
  • Strategic and functional problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to build innovative new initiatives/systems that meet goals
  • Impact-focused, you will have operational experience with a positive impact.
