POSITION: Investment Manager

About Seedstars Capital
Seedstars Capital is a platform for non-traditional investments that focuses on emerging economies.
The platform works with and invests in emerging venture capital fund managers who are involved in complementary sectors from the Pre-Seed to Series A stages in emerging markets. It also makes direct co-investments and follow-on investments in their portfolio companies.
About the job
We are looking for an investment manager to join the “Seedstars Capital” team. This person will build and manage a portfolio of high-growth, impact-focused companies in Africa, with a focus on companies that make young people’s lives better.
Finding and vetting business opportunities on the continent is part of the job, as is working closely with colleagues on the ground. Because the job is regional, it may require a lot of travel across the continent to visit important ecosystems and meet with partners. This is completely out of the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Find, evaluate, and talk about new investment possibilities in Africa (including North Africa).
- Lead the research, analysis, and introduction of the investment to the Investment Committee.
- Build and grow relationships with Angel Networks, VC funds, and top ecosystem enablers.
- Support portfolio companies post-investment and drive exit chances
- Help with news on LP
Profile
- 5+ years of experience in venture capital or private equity, ideally in Africa or other emerging markets
- Interested in high-growth businesses and technology, especially in Africa or other developing areas
- The ability to understand technology and business trends
- Developed skills in finance and analysis
- Skilled knowledge of how to set up investments
- Excellent skills in both speaking and writing.
- Based on the region of Africa
