ROLE: Youth, Education & Gender Project Officer – Strategic Partnership

Team Purpose
The DANIDA Strategic Partnership Initiative for Ghana and West Africa Project Team sits within the Accountable Governance Programme and straddles the Just Economy and Gender Justice and the larger Programme Influencing Strategy and Impact Team, which aims to realize the vision of making Ghana’s governance system more democratic, inclusive, and accountable by building people’s movements to demand and implement change; for constructive engagement of lawmakers, amplify their needs.
People power, supported by evidence-based analysis, to combat corruption and waste, boost budget allocation to address poverty and inequities, strengthen the democratic process, and enable human rights to be realized, especially the right to essential services (education). It will also help to provide women and girls with equal rights and opportunities by using a feminist lens to examine how economic policy, social policy, and political power structures disadvantage and abuse women (and girls), as well as access to public services and participation in wealth creation in the private sector.
The team from the Project Management Unit (PMU) will coordinate and offer strategic leadership for the project’s implementation. Also, The Project Management Unit (PMU) will oversee quality execution and coordination among consortium partners in Ghana and West Africa.
The Role
As a member of Oxfam in Ghana’s Accountable Governance team, I will lead the DANIDA Strategic Partnership Initiative for Ghana and West Africa project’s youth, education, and gender efforts, ensuring that the various strands of project plans, studies, analysis, reports, and documentation are youth-friendly, gender-just, and socially inclusive. S/he will lead the numerous youth and gender transformational education-related research, analyses, and audits in collaboration with partners to offer appropriate gender and social inclusion evidence for project planning and advocacy purposes.
The role holder will ensure that Oxfam’s feminist ideals and Oxfam International’s Youth Engagement Plan are integrated and implemented throughout the project’s duration. The role holder will also help partners and consultants create capacity in youth engagement, gender justice, and social inclusion through various project activities, studies, and research.
The role will need to ensure that all Oxfam policies and procedures relating to programme quality and partnerships, as well as other applicable policies and processes, are in place, implemented, and followed. Represent Oxfam at internal and external events and meetings as needed.
Applicants must be Ghanaian citizens or have the legal right to work in Ghana.
Requirements
We are searching for a dynamic and dedicated individual with the following qualities:
- Minimum of four years of relevant work experience in a similar capacity, primarily focusing on youth development, gender equality in education, mainstreaming, equity, and general women’s rights.
- A university degree in development studies, social sciences, or any other relevant topic
- Demonstrated experience in lobbying and influence.
- Strong awareness of the context of youth, gender, education legislation, and policies in Ghana.
- Strong understanding of women’s rights, gender, and human rights, social inclusion, and economic empowerment for women.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and working abilities in a multidisciplinary and multicultural setting.
- Ability to work with several stakeholders, particularly young people and youth-led organizations.
- Have significant interpersonal influence, as well as skills and experience creating relationships in an international organization.
- Proficient in English (oral and written) in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for motivating, influencing, and negotiating.
- Availability to travel throughout Ghana to programme sites, particularly on weekends.
- Experience assessing risks and ensuring compliance with legislation in an international NGO setting.
- Commitment to Oxfam’s mission and principles, especially equality for men and women.

- Experience delivering gender and youth-related capacity-building activities.
- Knowledge and expertise in youth, education, and gender approaches and techniques
- Strong learning process, facilitation abilities, research and interview skills, and knowledge management
- Commitment to fair opportunity, gender equality, and diversity.
- Experience in developing and managing youth partnerships.
- Demonstrate innovation and innovative thinking.
- Proficiency in Ghanaian languages is extremely desirable.
