ROLE: Sales Capability Manager 

GBfoods provides culinary solutions in Europe and Africa with prominent local brands such as Jumbo, Gallina Blanca, Erasco, Gino, Liebig, Star, Bama, D&L, Grand’Italia, and Blå Band, among others. GBfoods Africa works in 24 countries and has a regional office in Accra, Ghana.

We are seeking a vibrant Sales Capability manager to join our team.

The purpose of this role is to teach, develop, and motivate all sales personnel and merchandisers in order to provide set levels of service quality to trade accounts in the most professional and cost-effective manner possible. The postholder will enable and support the implementation of the Best-in-Class Sales Standard Operating Procedures by challenging and ensuring the proper use of tools, procedures, and skills.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessment and creation of sales standards (e.g., structured customer calls, role profiles, performance requirements).
  • Research, develop, and implement the Sales Development Plan.
  • Monitor specific performance objectives for all sales managers and guarantee they are met by training and creating a professional, highly trained, and motivated salesperson.
  • Accompany sales managers in markets as they conduct regular training and development for their salespeople, providing feedback on strengths and development prospects.
  • Monitor, control, and report expenses against the financial budgets assigned to the sales team.
  • Maintain visible and fruitful ties with all regional sales teams.
  • Ensure that training is scheduled and delivered to the right sales professionals.
  • Promote and instill the need for ongoing development and improvement in sales effectiveness.
  • Create and design a Route to Market metrics dashboard and monitor distributor performance using IT tools.
  • Create and offer standard reports to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions quickly.
  • Lead the analysis of sales data and the development of company improvement strategies.
  • Assist the organization’s sales team in developing goals for redistribution, deployment, and execution around the country.
  • Create profiles for users, groups, routes, and so on in the sales system, and provide technical training to all users.
  • Ensure the overall quality and accuracy of data captured in the system by users.
  • Configure and maintain users’ mobile phones, and provide IT technical assistance for all sales projects.
  • Help handle the dispersion of the organization’s products across the country.
  • Coordinate all product launches, activation exercises, and relaunches of current items in the desired locations and regions.
  • Support the participation of all Market Development Team members in their weekly Rural Market Development activities.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

Education

Obtain a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

Experience

  • A minimum of 4–5 years of relevant experience in a similar role in the Food and Beverage business / FMCG
  • Experience working with key distributors and the ability to support the growth of the RTM model and strategy
  • Outstanding hands-on sales training and development experience.
  • Excellent hands-on expertise in data analysis, ERP, and Microsoft Office, particularly with MS Excel.
  • Understand the key drivers of sales force effectiveness, as well as the capabilities, procedures, and practices needed to achieve them.

Skills

  • Deep expertise in sales, distribution, and logistics, with a firm understanding of retail trade dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of both internal and external drivers in the food business
  • High level of analytical skills with a detailed emphasis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Excellent project management abilities and a keen interest in technology.
