The Bank seeks applications from highly trained and qualified candidates for the open position of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Manager.

Role Summary

The Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Manager will be responsible for designing and managing the Bank’s environmental, social, and governance policies and procedures, as well as those of rural and community banks.

The incumbent will provide technical expertise on important problems linked to environmental and social impact assessment, as well as sustainability risks, in the design, preparation, implementation, and supervision of Bank and RCB activities, taking best industry practices and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Bank’s ESG strategy.
• Manage regulatory, ESG, and risk management.
• Understand the Bank’s ESG/Sustainability Gap Assessment report.
• Coordinate environmental and social initiatives and ensure compliance with ARB Apex Bank and RCBs sustainability requirements.
• Develop, implement, and monitor corporate-level ESG/sustainability initiatives across all business areas and operational levels. Coordinate with departments and units to ensure compliance with ESG/sustainability guidelines/directives.
• Responsibilities include reporting to the Board and management on the ESG/sustainability register, reporting to stakeholders and regulators, and ensuring complete implementation and compliance.
• Assess ESG materiality (financial and impact)
• Implement Ghana’s sustainable banking principles and sector guidance notes at ARB Apex Bank and the rural banking sector
• Educate RCBs on ESG/sustainability matters and guide compliance
• Collaborate with development partners to identify sustainability needs and address gaps.

Qualifications & Experience

• Requirements include a Master’s degree or qualified accounting professional (ICAG, ACCA, CIMA) with at least 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in sustainability/ESG data management, audit, risk, or reporting in a corporate setting or sustainability consulting.
• Knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS) is required.
• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience.

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency in data analytics and reporting software, as well as advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of the global sustainability landscape, including stakeholder interests, reporting and transparency trends, and evolving legislation.
• Experience working in a development finance institution, fostering collaborative relationships and building trust in a highly matrixed organizational setting.
• Familiarity with SUS.
• Requirements include the ability to manage many priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing workplace, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
