Advans Ghana, a subsidiary of the worldwide microfinance business Advans, began operations in 2008. The institution provides a comprehensive range of tailored financial products and services to Ghana’s micro, small, and medium-sized firms. The institution serves about 64,000 customers through a network of 20 retail locations and 650 workers.
Job Description

Then Advans has a position for you! When you join the Recovery team as a Recovery Officer, you will be in charge of debt collection before legal processes begin.

What will be your role?
Reporting to the head of recovery:
The Recovery Officer is in charge of collecting debts before judicial recovery actions are initiated, negotiating payments, responding to defaulters’ inquiries, and providing administrative support.
Providing support in the implementation of operational rules, processes, and guidelines, as well as preventing, detecting, and correcting risks associated with the aforementioned core activities. Most essential, keeps Advans Ghana from losing more than it has invested.
Overseeing the Pre-Litigation portfolio (PAR 90 and Write-Off loans) and collaborating with the Client Relationship Officer to recover any funds owed to Advans. Officers will be allocated to teams.
Main Responsibilities
- To reach agreed-upon performance targets while still providing quality service and a high level of customer care. To establish and implement good working procedures that ensure the Unit runs smoothly.
- To be prepared to visit debtors to collect payments and physically serve Demand Notices while adhering to Advans Ghana policy and procedures.
- To develop and maintain a working knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines to work with them. And be able to stay up with legislative changes, as well as national and local trends.
- Must be able to investigate and find missing clients, as well as retrieve any outstanding balances.
- Communicate directly with necessary external agencies, like police, valuators, auctioneers, and lawyers.
- To identify danger and prevent fraudulent applications from other team members and clients. And must be able to provide advice on important market risk issues for implementation.
- To guarantee that cash collection and payment management are managed under Audit requirements.
- Participate in Performance Management reviews with the team leader to ensure that individual targets are met to support the goals and objectives outlined in the service plan.
- To promote and apply Advans Ghana’s standards and values, as well as manage resources to ensure cost-effective service delivery.
- To do any other relevant duties that may be necessary.

- Dealing with problematic defaulting clientele.
- A poor addressing system makes it difficult to find clients and guarantors.
- Delays in judicial proceedings have an impact on bad debt collections.
Required Skill or Experience
- At least an HND and/or Bachelor’s Degree.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in banking/microfinance, specifically debt recovery at a financial institution.
