Job Description
We are seeking outstanding individuals who are either:
- In their last year at the Ghana School of Law, and will shortly qualify for pupillage; or
- Recently admitted to the Ghana Bar and have finished pupillage, now looking for a full-time position with a forward-thinking, impact-focused legal firm.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Trainee Associate role offers a rigorous and practical professional training opportunity. You will be incorporated into dynamic legal teams and experience both litigation and transactional tasks. You will gain knowledge by engaging in activities — writing, investigating, assessing, working together, watching events, and taking part in strategy meetings.
Moreover, you will have the backing of seasoned attorneys, gain organized mentorship, and be anticipated to participate actively in client tasks, legal and policy investigation, along with the firm’s internal educational setting.
This goes beyond just employment — it’s a chance for growth aimed at developing lawyers who are not only technically skilled but also socially conscious, ethically rooted, and professionally outstanding.
MAIN DUTIES
- Perform thorough legal research on statutory, constitutional, regulatory, and case law issues.
- Prepare pleadings, affidavits, legal analyses, contracts, and policy papers.
- Support attorneys during court sessions, client consultations, and stakeholder interactions.
- Assist in due diligence activities for commercial and regulatory deals.
- Assist the organization in its legal reform, public interest lawsuits, and civic empowerment initiatives.
- Engage in internal mock trials, knowledge exchange meetings, and legal writing workshops.
- Ensure precise records and case files are kept in accordance with the firm’s case management protocols.
- Perform any extra responsibilities assigned by team leaders or partners to support the firm’s objectives.

Basic Requirements:
- Student in their final year at the Ghana School of Law, OR
- Recently admitted to the Ghana Bar and finished pupillage.
- Outstanding abilities in writing, research, and legal analysis.
- Showed enthusiasm for litigation, public law, human rights, or corporate law.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong organisational skills, meticulousness, and responsibility.
- Capability to function both autonomously and within a cooperative legal team.
Additional Attributes:
- Previous involvement via internships or volunteer opportunities in legal or advocacy environments.
- Enthusiasm for legal studies and advancement, governance improvement, or involvement in civil society.
- Knowledge of legal technology resources and contemporary research databases.
