POSITION: Senior Advisor – Enhancing Vaccine Access in Africa

Role Summary
This is a high-level position at TBI and will be filled by an outstanding candidate who possesses significant experience and connections in Global Health, especially in improving vaccine access across Africa.
Main Duties
- Delivering technical guidance on vaccine access and production in various African nations while collaborating closely with TBI country teams, project advisors, and the Africa Health Programs team.
- Creating the framework and approach for evaluating vaccine accessibility across the continent.
- Assist and direct stakeholder interaction with senior government representatives, industry, multilateral organizations, and other important parties.
- Performing stakeholder assessments of vaccine availability in chosen African nations.
- Managing the group of advisors and analysts performing the evaluation, and overseeing the confirmation of the research with pertinent stakeholders.
- Offering specialized guidance to the TBI Global Health team and collaborators regarding vaccine accessibility and strategies for procurement policy.
Person Specification
- Education and Experience: A higher degree in life sciences, international public health, or natural sciences. Over a decade of experience in vaccine accessibility, life sciences, and/or worldwide public health, focusing on immunization initiatives in Africa. Experience in researching vaccine optimization and switching is preferred. Having experience in management consulting or working in government delivery roles in Africa is beneficial.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid experience in performing research and comprehending market dynamics and the policy environment pertaining to vaccine production and acquisition within the African context. Robust mathematical and analytical abilities.
- Coordination and Stakeholder Management: Proven experience in coordinating teams across various regions and managing relationships with government clients and broader stakeholders in the vaccine sector in Africa.
- Problem-Solving & Flexibility: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of adjusting to evolving situations and performing under stress. Proven capability to collaborate with multidisciplinary and diverse teams to accomplish project objectives.
- Work planning and reporting: Create and uphold a detailed work agenda, guaranteeing prompt updates and achievement of significant milestones. Deliver consistent progress updates to line managers and stakeholders, while actively informing them about any risks or difficulties.
- Communication: Outstanding interpersonal, negotiation, networking, collaboration, and communication abilities, with a talent for creating and nurturing relationships with diverse senior stakeholders. Ensure strong communication with government partners and other stakeholders to provide regular updates and facilitate seamless coordination of data-focused initiatives.
- Language: Proficient in both written and spoken English, with a preference for knowledge of French and additional African languages.
