POSITION: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

Job Description

PPAG is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to apply for the following vacancies within our organization:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the head of the facility, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality service delivery.
  • Conduct routine consultations for patients presenting with minor health issues, and participate in ward rounds to assess admitted cases with a focus on Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) matters, including Family Planning counseling, HIV/AIDS management, STI treatment, and Post Abortion Care.
  • Provide educational resources and information regarding Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) to patients and clients.
  • Oversee the overall operation of the clinic to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Manage and respond to emergency clinical situations as required.
  • Assist in the provision of both curative and preventive healthcare services within the clinic.
  • Ensure the optimal utilization of clinical equipment and resources.
  • Develop and maintain an effective referral system, referring patients to appropriate facilities as necessary.
  • Compile and submit clinical reports in accordance with required timelines.
  • Analyze service statistics to inform and enhance service delivery and program effectiveness.
  • Maintain rigorous infection control standards within the clinic, adhering to principles of quality care.
  • Supervise the implementation of Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) activities within the clinic and the wider community.
  • Ensure staff members provide high-quality clinical services while upholding professional standards.
  • Safeguard the rights of both clients and service providers.
  • Collaborate with nursing and midwifery staff to ensure adherence to clinical best practices.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required for professional development.
  • Prepare the Annual Work Plan and conduct Performance Appraisals for staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Service Delivery Manager.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Physician Assistantship or a related field, complemented by a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial or administrative capacity.
  • Additional qualifications in Mental Health, General Nursing, or Midwifery are considered advantageous.

Other Qualities and Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • A commitment to integrity, transparency, and reliability in all professional interactions.
  • A friendly and approachable demeanor, coupled with a strong sense of accountability and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in working collaboratively as part of a team, with the ability to function effectively under pressure and to work extended hours when required.
  • Willingness to travel at short notice.
