Job Description
Background: Feed the Future. Ghana Trade and Investment (GTI) Activity seeks to improve the enabling environment for Ghana’s economic growth by (1) facilitating growth in export-oriented trade, (2) improving and developing product standards, (3) catalyzing investments in private enterprises related to high-value commercial crops, (4) promoting job creation, particularly among women and youth, (5) promoting economic diversification, and (6) increasing foreign exchange revenues from high-value exports. GTI will assist in investing in enterprises that trade goods across borders, fostering innovation, and strengthening the overall trade industry.
Over twenty-five SMEs working with GTI identified branding and packaging as barriers to their capacity to remain competitive and develop into new markets. These SMEs understand that they struggle to identify their products from competitors without strong, distinctive branding and packaging that fulfills international standards.
This lack of distinctiveness reduces their attraction to consumers and inhibits their capacity to enter profitable export markets where product presentation and perceived quality are key to success. Gyarko Farms and Ghana Nuts Company, two SMEs that produce/process Shea, groundnut, chili, cashew, and mango, have identified inadequate branding and packaging as a major barrier to scaling their operations, increasing sales, and raising revenues. Addressing these branding and packaging difficulties is critical for organizations seeking to expand, establish long-term sustainability, and have a significant impact on their particular industries.
Objective
The primary goal of this consulting is to improve the branding and packaging for three agribusinesses in order to increase sales and export potential. The consultant will provide expert advice and technical help to guarantee that their products satisfy international standards, effectively differentiate themselves in the market, and appeal to both local and worldwide target consumers.

- Assess existing package designs and materials to ensure they meet international export standards and are appealing to the market.
- Propose novel packaging solutions that improve product visibility, assure durability throughout transit, and are consistent with the brand identity.
- Create packaging design mockups and prototypes based on feedback from agribusinesses and stakeholders.
- Ensure that all branding and packaging options comply with the unique restrictions of the intended export markets, such as labeling requirements, environmental standards, and safety regulations.
- Guide to obtaining the requisite certifications or approvals for packaging materials and designs.
