Job Description
Background: Feed the Future. Ghana Trade and Investment (GTI) Activity seeks to improve the enabling environment for Ghana’s economic growth by (1) facilitating growth in export-oriented trade; (2) improving and developing product standards; (3) catalyzing investments in private enterprises related to high-value commercial crops; (4) promoting job creation, particularly among women and youth; (5) promoting economic diversification; and (6) increasing foreign exchange revenue from high-value exports. GTI will make it easier to invest in companies that sell goods across borders, encourage innovation, and strengthen the whole trade industry.
Position Summary
The Training and Events Coordinator will report to the Finance and Operations Director and work closely with the technical team. S/he will collaborate with GTI personnel, government stakeholders, the commercial sector, and civil society organizations to plan and carry out training and activities. The Training and Events Coordinator is expected to handle all obligations swiftly, effectively, and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with technical teams to choose relevant training and events (e.g., seminars, workshops, study tours, trade exhibits) and offer pertinent information, such as time frame, location, content, trainers, and number of participants.
- Collaborate with recruited firms to attend important trade events in target markets.
- Create an events calendar with a list of forthcoming events, training, and crucial meetings, including anticipated dates, places, intended beneficiaries, and a brief description.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and venues.
- When acquiring services for project events, use established procurement standards.
- Provide logistical and other support before and during the event.
- Ensure all activities are organized in accordance with USAID criteria.
- Additional duties may be assigned by the Finance and Operations Director.
Required skills and experience include:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, or a related discipline is desirable.
- Four (4) years or more of related experience.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, including the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet program requirements by effectively managing client expectations.
- Experience working on USAID or donor-funded projects is preferred.
Location and Reporting
The Training and Events Coordinator will work in Accra, Ghana, and report to the Director of Finance and Operations.
