POSITION: Field Officer

About Vibrant Village Foundation

The Vibrant Village Foundation (VVF) is a private foundation based in Portland, Oregon, in the United States. The Foundation, which was founded in 2010, provides direct help and funding to neglected and deprived people in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. VVF has supported initiatives in more than 22 countries since its beginnings.

In Ghana, the Foundation has made major contributions to poverty reduction in the Fielmuo community in the Upper West area. Fielmuo is located in the Sissala West district, approximately 150 kilometers north of Wa, the Upper West regional seat. VVF has helped approximately 14,237 individuals in 36 communities in the Sissala West and Lambussie districts have access to safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH), education, health, and vocational skills training.

In 2018, VVF established a 10-year strategy titled ‘Integrated Program for Poverty Reduction and Social Transformation’ (INPPREST). The program’s goal is to contribute to poverty reduction, improved wellbeing, and resilience of vulnerable populations by implementing multi-sectoral programs such as education and child protection, water, sanitation, and hygiene, and livelihood, food security, and women’s empowerment. We are looking for a self-motivated individual to work as a Field Officer to coordinate VVF activities in a number of communities in the Lambussie and Sissala West districts.

  • Position: Field Officer.
  • Location: Fielmuo, Sissala West District.

Reports to Program Coordinators and has relationships with the WASH Officer and other Field Officers.

Roles and responsibilities

The Field Officer, reporting to the program coordinators, is responsible for coordinating all VVF operations in the communities to which he or she has been assigned.

Community/Stakeholder Mobilization.

  • Identify and enroll communities in the program.
  • Follow community entry protocols in new communities.
  • Encourage stakeholders and beneficiaries to participate in LIFE, E-CLIP, and WASH programs.
  • Establish program structures like VSLAs, FBOs, and Girls Clubs.
  • Serve as a liaison between VVF and target communities.
  • Collaborate with opinion leaders and traditional and religious leaders.

Training, Mentorship, and Coaching

  • Collaborate with coordinators to create training materials.
  • Train beneficiaries on LIFE, WASH, and E-CLIP programs.
  • Assist project structures in developing action plans.
  • Strengthen child abuse reporting channels.
  • Provide psychosocial counseling to vulnerable and depressed children.
  • Improve community-based protection systems’ response to child rights.

Planning, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting

  • Develop quarterly and annual work plans and budgets.
  • Implement project work plans on time.
  • Use M&E tools for data collection.
  • Distribute teaching materials to schools.
  • Document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned from program implementation.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and activity-based reports for supervisors.

Stakeholder involvement and partnerships

  • Establish rapport with beneficiary communities, traditional authority, government agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector actors.
  • Represent VVF at stakeholder meetings in consultation with supervisors.

Other duties

  • Assist with administrative and support responsibilities as needed. • Perform other lawful duties as assigned by supervisor or VVF management.

Profile and Experience

  • The ideal candidate should have a degree in Agronomy, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or equivalent work experience, at least 3 years of experience in a similar position with a non-profit organization, the ability to ride a motorcycle for long distances, the ability to work with diverse stakeholders, critical analysis and problem-solving skills, and the attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned tasks.
  • Requirements include strong English communication abilities, both verbally and in writing.
  • Requirements for this position include fluency in Sissali and/or Dagaare, a strong commitment to supporting rural households, and basic computer skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Location: Fielmuo-Sissala West District.
