MDF West Africa Limited (MDF West Africa) is a training and management consulting organization based in Ghana that began operations in May 2009. MDF West Africa services both global and local clients throughout West Africa and beyond. Also, MDF WA is a multi-project organization with a core staff of 28 professionals and a network of 25 additional trainers/consultants. It is currently undertaking roughly 15 projects at the same time.
MDF West Africa is a completely owned local subsidiary of MDF Training & Consultancy BV, which has been developing the capacity of individuals, organizations, and networks since 1984 with the purpose of ’empowering people, creating impact’. The Global MDF operates offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Kenya, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Myanmar, as well as project offices in Rwanda, Uganda, and Benin. MDF provides open-subscription training courses, customized training and workshops, and consulting services across numerous industries. MDF also helps organizations build and implement project monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes.
As part of the MDF Global network and an independent Ghana-based regional management consulting and training organization, we offer the best of both worlds. We contribute over 35 years of global experience in development intervention, project design, and program management, along with locally acquired skills. Job Overview
The Business Development and Communication Officer is in charge of driving the company’s growth by identifying new business possibilities, establishing strategic alliances, and successfully articulating the company’s value offer. This position requires a proactive individual who excels at market analysis and relationship building while also having good communication and negotiation abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifying and targeting possible company prospects and markets.
- Create and implement strategies for acquiring new clients and expanding business with current clients.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders, such as clients, partners, and industry influencers.
- Create and present captivating presentations and offers to potential clients and partners.
- Support MDF operations by actively seeking business growth possibilities and identifying tender prospects in Ghana and elsewhere.
- Be accountable for acquisition-related operations.
- Continuously screen for fresh chances.
- Prepare high-quality prequalification in response to the call for tenders.
- Guide other trainers and consultants on the structure and implementation of their acquisition work.
- Maintain and grow our network of clients, partners, and other important actors.
- Maintain the quality. Identify and activate the necessary short- and long-term experts for our projects. CV database of current MDF consultants and potential external individuals;
- Update and update country-specific project references and capability declarations.
- Assist with making informed “go/no go” judgments for calls and bids.
- Coordinate the whole proposal life cycle, including writing a proposal outline and tailoring. External contacts and exchanges with customers and consultants
- Follow up on proposal submissions by liaising with clients, when permitted, to ensure that clients’
- Assess the contracting agency’s grading sheets/feedback on the project concept/proposals and detail the elements that lead to success or failure in winning the bid.
- Perform other duties as needed for fund raising, company development.
Communication:
- Develop and implement communication strategies to improve the company’s brand image and reputation.
- Create and manage content for several communication channels, including as press releases, newsletters, social media, and corporate publications.
- Coordinate and oversee public relations activities, such as media relations and event preparation.
- Monitor and analyze communication metrics to evaluate strategies and create data-driven improvements.
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with top management to set company development goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with management to create and implement strategic plans to meet corporate growth objectives.
- Collaborate with management to study and report on performance indicators, sales projections, and market trends.
- Collaborate with management to identify and address risks connected with business development and communication initiatives.
Collaboration and teamwork:
- Work closely with the Global Communication and Acquisition teams to ensure that business growth and communication initiatives are aligned.
- Train and support team members on best practices for business development and communication.
Required Skill or Experience
- Requirements for this position include a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or project management, as well as a comparable master’s degree and 3 years of international experience with a proven track record.
- Excellent organizational and reporting skills.
- Excellent networking skills.
- Good working knowledge of the French language will be advantageous.
- Experience with proposal development.
- Proven expertise (3+ years) in business development, proposal writing, strategic planning, and communication roles.
- A thorough understanding of market research, corporate growth methods, and communication best practices.
- Previous experience writing winning expressions of interest and proposals
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including the ability to tailor messages to specific audiences.
- Expertise with CRM software, marketing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on detail.
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent bargaining and presentation skills
