Job Title: Technical Advisor

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is a public-benefit federal enterprise that operates in over 100 countries worldwide. We work on behalf of the German government, assisting public and private sector clients in a wide range of areas, including economic development and employment, energy and the environment, and peace and security. Our efforts are divided into three main areas: Energy and Climate (renewable energy and energy efficiency), Training and Sustainable Growth for Decent Jobs, and Peaceful and Inclusive Societies (good governance).

Project Brief:

The Supporting Private and Financial Sector (PFS) programme began in January 2023 and will last three years. The plan intends to enhance the employment status of MSMEs in Ghana’s five regions: Greater Accra, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo. It includes five outputs: financial services support, MSMEs’ service delivery through regional networks, employment services for returnees and migrants, green economy initiatives, and vaccine production foundations.

Scope of Role:

The Technical Advisor will be responsible for the delivery of services to MSMEs via regional networks. He/she will be in charge of the daily implementation and operational aspects of all service providers in the regional network. He/she will support the PFS by providing technical assistance and advice to program partners/service providers, as well as ensuring that activities within the regional network of service providers for MSMEs are operationalized, with a focus on integrating financial, business development, and employment service providers into the regional network.

Tasks:

  • Provides coordination, interaction, and assistance to partner organizations in the regional network of MSMEs’ service providers.
  • Coordinates and assists in the preparation, planning, implementation, and monitoring of program plans and activities in close collaboration with counterparts.
  • Assists in developing action plans and synchronizing the planning and budgeting system with equivalents.
  • Collaborate with partner institutions to plan, implement, and document training events, workshops, forums, team meetings, and other program activities.
  • Meets on a regular basis with the GIZ official in charge of the project’s implementation in each region.
  • Creates ready-to-use strategic and technical concepts, such as guidelines, manuals, and procedures.
  • Prepares suitable input for various project/programme reports, including annual reports, and contributes to other reports as requested by the programme manager and GIZ Head Office.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A university degree (Master’s/MSc) in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or another similar field.
  • Minimum six (6) years of professional experience in a comparable role with a development organization.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in facilitating relationships between Business Development Service Providers/Financial Service Providers/Employment Service Providers in Ghana, specifically in the context of private and financial sector development, or any other comparable institution.
  • Show strong interpersonal, communication, managerial, and organisational abilities.
  • Have an excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken); knowledge of German is advantageous.
  • A proactive approach toward personal development and institutional improvements.

Location: Kumasi.
