POSITION: Technical Sales Support – Grinding 

Technical Sales Support for Grinding takes care of first-line technical issues in the Market Area, Africa (MA). This means that technical solutions are delivered to meet client needs and address issues related to defined goods. They also help with more complex technical scopes of proposals.

The Grinding product group (PG) is part of the Grinding, Bulk, and Pyro (GBP) Business Line (BL) portfolio and requires both technical expertise and a desire to help solve problems. This position is critical in terms of coordinating the Global Product Line specialists with the Market Area (MA) and client needs.

Essentially, the Technical Sales Support role collaborates with the Sales Area to effectively deliver a seamless experience that provides a “technical solution” that meets the customer’s needs, thereby assisting the sales team in improving and building relationships, which has a downstream effect on sales realization.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Providing high technical competence in the field of troubleshooting, process understanding, technical incidents, operation, and maintenance for grinding through site visits and employing digital and remote services (e.g., Augmented Reality).
  • Specializing in owning technological sectors to provide expert support in site operations and technology-related occurrences, inquiries, or problems.
  • Responsibilities include resolving technical warranty claims and customer complaints, as well as teaching internal and external technical teams on goods.
  • Expert support for problem management, technical sales support, R&D, and product development
  • Support IB Validation involves developing CTO (Configure to Order) and ETO (Engineered to Order) quotations based on solution formulation and technical study, as well as reviewing inspection reports and providing comments and solutions as needed.
  • Supporting Field Services with Technical Information/Details
  • Supporting the sales process and assisting with the flow of technical information and part numbers.
  • Assisting with developing, influencing, and negotiating when necessary.
  • Support the overall development of the sales funnel.
  • Ensure the timely progression of sales cases through the various phases.
  • Travelling around Africa and globally to support sales efforts, problem resolution, product training, etc. on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications & Experience

  • HND/BSc. Metallurgical Engineering/Process Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of field experience in Process Equipment,
  • Requirements: extensive sales experience and knowledge of mineral processing applications.
  • Must have up-to-date understanding and knowledge as a technical product specialist.
  • Understanding and expertise with sales and finances
  • Familiarity with a diverse range of mineral processing equipment
  • Familiarize yourself with the fundamental sales procedures.
  • Experience in complex relationships.
  • Advanced verbal and writing skills.
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Office skills are two natural requirements.

  • Reports directly to the Head of Technical Sales Support, Services.

  • Management and Other Engineers

  • The position involves support management expertise, good customer relations skills, the ability to operate within a team setting, mechanical aptitude, creativity, innovation, and the capacity to understand the bigger picture.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and passion for service and support. Possesses strong relationship-building skills and a focus on action and detail.
  • A good level of computer skills is necessary. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Highly motivated individual who can work under duress and achieve deadlines.

  • Client skills include creating and managing relationships, negotiation abilities, and awareness of customer wants and market requirements.
  • Responsibilities include managing many projects simultaneously, prioritizing duties, and working in a fast-paced workplace. Strong communication, cooperation, interpersonal, and presentation skills are required to handle internal and external interfaces.
  • While performing the activities of this profession, the employee is frequently expected to sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

  • The employee must periodically lift and/or move up to thirty pounds.
