Job Description.
The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is looking for an inventive, energetic, and multi-skilled Human Resources Officer to join its team in Accra, Ghana.
The chosen candidate will provide full human resources generalist assistance to the IWMI West Africa Office, including recruiting and induction, to ensure that the human resources function operates effectively and efficiently with minimum direction and supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide advice on how to apply and harmonize policies and procedures.
- Assist with the execution of talent management operations such as talent acquisition, onboarding, employee development programs, performance, career management, and engagement.
- Participate in the implementation of HR policies, processes, and information management systems, as well as other HR-related tasks, such as communication and training delivery.
- Obtain the essential documentation for the accurate creation of supplementary personnel contracts (interns and consultants).
- Conduct monthly audits of HR files and records to ensure that all necessary documents are collected and filed properly.
- Coordinate with appropriate persons to update and maintain human resource-related information on applicable platforms, such as the local staff directory, organizational chart, staff lists, and so on.
- Coordinate plans for expatriate personnel relocation, including visas, travel, temporary housing, and so on.
- Act as the unit’s focal point for diversity and inclusion, safety, and health and wellbeing in the Ghana West-Africa office.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and data on regional HR processes and activities.
- Contribute to the continuing examination of team processes and procedures to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain the integrity, correctness, and confidentiality of HR information.
- Assist with specific initiatives as assigned.
- Monitor and guarantee compliance with all relevant Ghanaian government rules and regulations.
- Additionally, keep the HQ HR operations team informed of any changes or developments in the regulatory landscape.
- Serve as a point of contact for workers in the Ghana regional office on HR-related questions, problems, and grievances, and report to the HQ HR Operations team.
- Any additional related tasks as assigned.
Required Skill or Experience
- Educational qualifications and experience are essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, social science, human resources, gender studies, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of human resources experience in a high-volume setting.
- Desirable: Experience with Human Resources Information Systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of comprehensive human resource functions.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and fulfill strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to manage delicate and confidential information and circumstances with sensitivity, expertise, and diplomacy.
- Ability to take the initiative and operate effectively in a multicultural workplace.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills, including active listening and strong verbal and written communication ability.
- French proficiency is desirable.
