Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Use appropriate statistical approaches to analyze laboratory data from multiple sources, such as surveillance systems, outbreak investigations, and research projects.
- Create technical papers and presentations, summarizing significant findings and doing statistical analysis.
- Help design and analyze public health studies for the NPHRL.
- Assist with grant proposals requiring statistical expertise.
- Train and mentor public health laboratory staff on statistical methods and software.
- Monitor and evaluate performance programs, analyzing data and reporting progress toward objectives.
- Collaborate with public health professionals, epidemiologists, and researchers on projects.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics or similar field
- Master’s degree in biostatistics, health information management, or related field
- At least 2 years of experience as a biostatistician in a public health context is preferred.
- Proficient in data analysis with statistical tools (e.g., Stata, SAS, R)
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working in Ghana or a similar poor nation is advantageous.

- Create and execute statistical analysis plans for NPHRL projects.
- Analyze and interpret laboratory data to identify trends, patterns, and associations.
- Create technical reports and presentations summarizing key findings for various audiences.
- Contribute to scientific publications and research papers as needed.
- Help develop grant proposals requiring statistical expertise.
- Train and mentor NPHRL staff on statistical techniques.
- Collaborate with public health specialists on research and program assessment initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of public health laboratory programs that are in conformity with national and international recommendations, as well as NPHRL priorities.
- Help write attractive grant submissions and manage grants successfully.
- Foster partnerships with stakeholders in the health sector, government agencies, research institutions, and communities.
- Manage office tasks such as correspondence, filing, scheduling, and database maintenance.
- Plan and organize project-related meetings, workshops, trainings, and events.
- Contribute to policy development and implementation.
- Support field activities with logistical and administrative support, including sample collection, testing, reporting, monitoring, supervision, and quality assurance.
- Other jobs may be allocated by leadership as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in administration, management, or public health is required. • An advanced degree in a related discipline is preferred.
- At least three years of administrative or support experience in a health-related field.
- Experience with grant writing and management will be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills in English and at least one local language.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other related software and tools.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding Ghana’s public health system and laboratory services is beneficial.
- Demonstrated proficiency in monitoring and evaluating programs using quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in Ghana or a similar developing country context is advantageous.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis applications is required.
Competencies
- Successfully develop, implement, and manage at least two public health laboratory programs within the first year.
- Secure funding for assigned programs through successful grant proposals.
- Monitor and evaluate programs on a regular basis, submitting accurate and timely reports.
- Build effective partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Provide training and technical assistance to improve public health laboratory capacity.
