University of Essex Africa Scholarship For African Students

Applications are open for the 2020/2021 University of Essex Africa Scholarship Programme in the United Kingdom. Interested and qualified candidates are invited to apply for this amazing scholarship opportunity.

International students pursuing postgraduate degrees are eligible for this scholarship. However, applicants must be self-funding.

Worth of University of Essex Africa Scholarship

The worth of the University of Essex Africa Scholarship for African Students is £4,500 as a tuition fee.

Applicants From African Countries

The students from the following African Countries can apply for the scholarship with the stated requirements:

  • Firstly, students from Ghana. Thus, Ghanaian students must have a CGPA  of 3.0/4.0 or above
  • Secondly, students from Nigeria must have a CGPA of 3/5 or above
  • Also, students from other African countries must possess a CGPA of 2:1 or above

Required Qualification

Interested applicants must be nationals of any African Country and possess the necessary degree from:

  • To begin with, a degree from an accredited UK university, other than Essex, with a 2:1 or above, or
  • Also, a degree from an accredited university with a 2:1 or above (or equivalent as defined by our Postgraduate Admissions selection criteria). However, it must be  from any of the following countries:
  1. Firstly, Bangladesh
  2. Secondly, Brazil
  3. Thirdly, Canada
  4. Also, Chile
  5. Furthermore, China
  6. Additionally, Colombia
  7. Moreover, Hong Kong
  8. Equally important, India
  9. Next, Indonesia
  10. Again, Japan
  11. Similarly, Jordan
  12. Alternatively, Kazakhstan
  13. Malaysia
  14. Mexico
  15. Nepal
  16. Norway
  17. Pakistan
  18. Russia
  19. Sri Lanka
  20. Taiwan
  21. Thailand
  22. Turkey
  23. USA
  24. Vietnam

Eligibility Criteria for the University of Essex Africa Scholarship For African Students

  • To begin with, these scholarships are restricted to students who are overseas fee payers and are mainly self-funded.
  • Secondly, applicants must be residents of an African country (defined as a member state of the African Union).
  • Also, these scholarships may be awarded to students who have completed relevant school or university studies. It should be in any of the specified countries above.
  • Again, students must have been awarded an undergraduate degree with the grade specified or above.
  • Importantly, eligible programs are those which are full-time taught Master’s programs leading to MA, MSc, LLM, MFA, and MRes degrees. The program starts in October 2022 and January 2023.
  • In light of this, students who have firmly accepted an offer of a place by 16 September 2022 or 06 January 2023.
  • Only one scholarship award can be made to each student.
  • Note that, this scholarship is available for the first year of Master’s study only
  • Lastly, successful students should be available for promotional activities.
