Exception for COVID-19:

International graduate students who are currently enrolled and are not yet in possession of a study visa as a result of COVID-19 circumstances are eligible to apply. To be eligible to receive the award, these candidates must have current study permission;

Application Procedures

Applicants must be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time in a qualifying program in 2023–2024;

The candidate must be enrolled full-time in a graduate-level program at the University of Toronto for two or three terms. As determined by their school, a full-time student is enrolled in at least 60% of a full course load (40% for students with a permanent impairment).

Each graduate unit decides whether a student is eligible for the program on their own. To find out if their program qualifies for the graduate unit’s OGS competition, students should carefully evaluate the information provided by the graduate unit they wish to register in.

They haven’t gone over the lifetime cap on government funding or the highest level of OGS/QEII support that is permitted for their level of study (see Maximum Support below); and

They’ve earned at least an A- (or an equivalent grade) in each of the last two years of study (full-time equivalent); or, if the student has already finished two years or more of graduate coursework at the time of application, they only need to show that they’ve averaged at least an A- across all of their graduate coursework.
