USA and Canada ACI Foundation Scholarships & Fellowships

International students who want to further their studies are encouraged to apply for 2023–24 ACI Foundation Scholarships and Fellowships in the United States and Canada by the ACI Foundation.

High-potential students enrolled in graduate and undergraduate degree programs with a concrete focus are supported. Undergraduate and graduate studies will be supported by the grant, thus interested students are recommended to gather the proper paperwork.

Information on Scholarships and Internships at the ACI Foundation

Eligibility Requirements

The following requirements must be met by candidates in order to be eligible for ACI Foundation Scholarships and Fellowships in the USA and Canada for International Students:

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, candidates must be enrolled full-time in graduate school and must at least be in their first or second year of graduate studies during the award year. For the duration of the award year and at the time of application, undergraduate applicants must be enrolled full-time.

International students enrolled in a university in the United States or Canada during the award year are required to apply for the fellowship award. Some fellowships require the recipient to finish a 10–20 week internship the summer before the award year starts.

English language proficiency is a must for all applicants. If English is not your first language, a formal statement attesting to your proficiency must be included with the application.

Near the end of their fellowship tenure, fellowship winners are required to present a written report outlining how the fellowship has helped them grow and prepare for their desired job path following graduation.

Application Process

How-to-Apply:

One online application form must be submitted by all interested candidates for the ACI Foundation Scholarship and Fellowships 2024. The form will automatically display the fellowships and scholarships for which you may qualify once you have provided the necessary information.

Document specifications:

It will be necessary for applicants to submit personal and academic data:

• A resume, first
• A 500-word composition
• Official transcripts that are written in English and have a 4.0 grading scale
• Two recommendations, one of which MUST be from an ACI member.

Important Information for Applications for Fellowships

The following will be given to fellowship recipients:

• $10,000 USD in financial aid for tuition, housing, books, and supplies;
• appropriate attribution on the website of the Foundation and in Concrete International;
• two ACI conventions’ attendance costs and travel costs were covered (must be used during the award year). Interviews for fellowships will take place at the Spring ACI Convention.
• paired with a mentor from the industry.

Additional Details:

International students may be eligible for ACI Foundation fellowships, but you must enroll in a school in the United States, Canada, or Mexico during the award cycle.

Some fellowships require their recipients to finish an internship that lasts 10 to 12 weeks in the summer of 2024.

Applicants who are selected as finalists for an ACI Foundation fellowship must be available to appear in person for an interview with the Scholarship Council on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the spring ACI Concrete Convention. Finalists will be notified by February 5, 2024. The airfare, hotel stay, registration fee, as well as a travel stipend, will all be covered by ACI Foundation.

English language proficiency is a must for all applicants. You can add a copy of your TOEFL score to your application if English is not your first language. This is not necessary and is optional.

The educational stipend is given to the student in two equal payments over the course of a year to cover costs such as tuition, lodging and board, books, student fees, etc. Attendance at scheduled ACI Concrete Conventions within the award cycle is required in order to receive stipends.

Near the end of the fellowship period, recipients of fellowships are required to submit a written report outlining how the fellowship contributed to their personal growth and career readiness.

Important Information for Applications for Middle East and North Africa Fellowships

The following will be given to MENA recipients:

• $10,000 USD in financial aid for tuition, housing, books, and supplies;
• airfare, lodging, a travel allowance, and registration for one North American ACI Concrete Convention (travel is subject to local and national legislation), one ACI Middle East Conference, and travel throughout the Middle East to complete ACI certification.
• paired with a mentor from the industry.
• appropriate attribution on the website of the Foundation and in Concrete International;

Additional Details:

International students are eligible for ACI Foundation scholarships, but they must enroll in a university in one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, or one of the Gulf Cooperation Council nations (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates).

Finalists for an ACI Foundation fellowship must be ready to appear in person at a Scholarship Council interview on Sunday, March 24, 2024, during the annual ACI Concrete Convention. The airfare, hotel stay, registration fee, as well as a travel stipend, will all be covered by ACI Foundation. To attend the ACI Concrete Convention, you must apply for and acquire a visa from your home country.

English language proficiency is a must for all applicants. If English is not your first language, you must include a written statement or a copy of your TOEFL results with your application attesting to your ability in the language.

Information on Applying for Scholarships

The following is what scholarship recipients will get:

• $5,000 in financial aid for tuition, housing, books, and supplies; and
• Appropriate mention on the Foundation website and in Concrete International magazine.

Additional Details:

• International students are eligible for ACI Foundation scholarships unless the grant sponsor specifies a particular region or field of study.
• The 2024 fall semester through the 2025 spring semester is when awards will be given out during this application period.
• For the duration of the award cycle, you must be enrolled full-time in a master’s or Ph.D. program to qualify for a graduate scholarship. The second year of a master’s program or the fourth year of a Ph.D. program cannot have already passed for applicants.
• The candidate must be a full-time undergraduate at the time of application and for the duration of the award cycle in order to be eligible for an undergraduate scholarship.
• The financial aid/registrar office of the school where the study program will be pursued will receive the scholarship stipend in two equal payments over the course of a year. The recipient’s educational institution account will then receive the payments.
