JOB TITLE: Regional Network Optimization Specialist
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
Has overall responsibility for figuring out how much production capacity the sourcing units will need in the medium to long term (1–5 years) to meet changing demand for its products. Understands how each sourcing unit works in light of demand patterns and plans for growth so that they can plan for future capacity needs and deal with short-term capacity constraints. Plans for the medium to long term to free up capacity. This is done by:
- Using knowledge of current and future technologies within current SUs and global networks
- drive portfolio simplification and DBNR to meet market demand.
- Driving source and supply cost optimization through capex management.
- Benchmarking against other SUs on technology fit vs. application.
THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for planning capacity and making and implementing business cases to make sure capacity is unlocked through investment and taking into account other ways to get money, such as through a third party.
- Continue to improve capacity planning systems and methods so that each sourcing unit in each MCO can better meet customer needs and achieve business growth goals.
- Review how the Supply Planning team’s short-term supply problems are fixed, and be the first person the Supply Planner talks to about resolving supply constraints.
- Improves the planning process and makes sure that SC costs are as low as possible.
- Works with the Cluster Engineering team and Global Engineering to figure out how much CAPEX each site can afford.
- Makes sure the Capex budget is carried out on time, on budget, and as planned.
- Portfolio Simplification: Works with different CCBTs to find SKUs that should be taken off the list.
- Works with the MCO Planning team to make sure rundown plans are carried out and SKUs are removed from the system Agility DBNR & Network segmentation.
SKILLS FOR THE JOB:
- Must have an engineering background and factory experience.
- Experience in FMCG Supply Chain (Factory, Planning) is a plus.
- Both technical and financial savvy
- Understanding business processes from other functions (Factory, Capex, Procurement, Marketing, etc.)
- Strong ability to sway people
THE BEST SKILLS:
- Unilever Supply Chain Qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain (APICS, etc.), a plus
IMPORTANT SKILLS:
It would be a plus to have at least 3 years of experience in a technical role or 1-2 years of experience in operational planning.
