Umeå University 2023 Scholarships (SWEDEN)

The Department of Chemistry at Ume University offers a postdoctoral scholarship for the project “Do pollutants pose a risk for water reuse?” The program is looking for a very good post-doc to work on a project that will look into how environmental pollutants show up in wastewater.

This project is part of a long-term international partnership with the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Its goal is to learn more about how pollutants in the environment are spread through products made from wastewater.

The scholarship is for two years of full-time postdoc studies that will start on September 1, 2023. The project will focus on how wastewater harms the environment.

Admissible Criteria:

• To be a postdoctoral fellow, you must have a doctoral degree or a foreign degree that is considered to be the same as a doctoral degree.
• This eligibility requirement must be met by the time the decision is made on who gets the scholarship.
• According to the last sentence, a postdoctoral fellow should be someone who got a degree no more than three years ago. If there are special reasons, a person with a Ph.D. that is older than three years could also be considered.
• Special reasons could include illness leave, parental leave, positions of trust in trade unions, or other similar situations, as well as clinical service or service/assignment related to the subject area.
• Applicants must have a Ph.D. in environmental or analytical chemistry or an equivalent degree and have worked with LC-MS/MS in the past to do both sampling and analysis.
• Sample processing experience with biota samples is a good thing.

The following must be part of a complete application:

• A personal letter that lists qualifications and says why the person wants the job.
• Curriculum Vitae is a resume that includes a list of publications,
  Certified copy of the doctoral degree certificate or documentation that shows when the doctoral degree is expected to be earned,
• Copies of other diplomas, course certificates, and/or grades that have been signed off by an official
• Copy of the doctoral thesis and three relevant articles, or a link to them,

References are given in connection with interviews. Other documents that the applicant wants to use.

• 60 ECTS in Chemistry are needed to get in.

Language Requirement:

Both spoken and written English communication skills are needed. English skills on par with Swedish upper secondary school English B/6.
