About the University of Nebraska Scholarships
Undergraduate scholarships are awarded to students based on a variety of criteria, such as leadership, diversity, service, academic achievement, financial need, or a combination of these. Repayment of scholarships is not required. Organizations from the state, the federal government, universities, or the private sector can award scholarships.
Concerning the University of Nebraska
The University of Nebraska was established in 1869 as a land grant university under the Morrill Act and is committed to the Jeffersonian concept of a “generalized diffusion of knowledge.” As stated in its founding documents, it has been accessible to anyone of any “age, sex, color, or nationality” since its inception. This university embraces everything as it did then.
Ever an aspirational location, this university was among the first west of the Mississippi to give doctorates, with the first one going to graduates in 1896. The first undergraduate psychology lab in history was founded at the University of Nebraska.
The campuses, which are known as botanical gardens and arboreta, are a testament to the tradition of the place where the field of ecology was founded. The Sheldon Museum of Art, home to one of the most important collections of 20th-century American art in the world, the University of Nebraska Press, and the Prairie Schooner literary journal were all founded on an early institutional interest in literature and the arts.
As a pioneer in research and one of the top universities in the country for teaching, Nebraska is currently working on numerous grant-funded initiatives that will expand our understanding of the humanities and sciences.
For many years, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln has been ranked among the best national research universities. We are in the upper third of all public and private universities in the country. Nebraska has received great marks recently for accessibility, value, and graduation rate.
