Position: General Manager – Concept Grocery Store

Job Summary

We are looking for a creative and experienced General Manager to oversee the operations of our revolutionary concept grocery store. The General Manager will be in charge of all retail operations, including customer service, sales, inventory management, personnel supervision, and strategic planning. The ideal applicant will possess excellent leadership abilities, a love for the retail industry, and the ability to drive innovation and growth in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the concept grocery store to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Create and implement operational rules and procedures to improve store efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to find areas for improvement and apply enhancement initiatives.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction by offering polite, competent, and personalized help to customers.
  • Resolve customer complaints and inquiries in a timely and professional manner to ensure a great purchasing experience for all customers.

Sales & Marketing

  • Develop and implement sales strategy to increase revenue and meet sales targets.
  • Use promotional campaigns, events, and marketing initiatives to attract customers and boost foot traffic.
  • Monitor market developments and competitor behaviour to find opportunities for differentiation and market positioning.

Inventory Management

Manage inventory control procedures such as ordering, receiving, stocking, and replenishment of items.
Implement inventory management methods and procedures to maximize stock levels, reduce shrinkage, and maintain product freshness and quality.

Staff Supervision and Training

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise retail employees, ensuring they follow corporate policies and standards.
  • Coach, guide, and provide performance feedback to team members in order to build an environment of excellence and continual progress.
  • Create and administer training programs to improve employee skills and product understanding.

Financial Management

  • Prepare and monitor the store’s budget, which includes sales projections, expenses, and profit margin.
  • Monitor financial performance in relation to budgetary targets and, if necessary, take cost-cutting measures.
  • Analyze financial reports and data to find patterns and areas for improvement.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety rules, food handling standards, and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment for both employees and customers.

Required Skill or Experience

  • Proven retail management experience, ideally in the grocery or food retail industry, with at least four years in a leadership position.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to encourage and inspire a diverse team.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer service abilities.
  • A strong understanding of retail operations, sales strategies, and inventory management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and retail management software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
