About the role
The Sightsavers Ghana office is now looking for a Programme Manager to help execute, develop, manage, and monitor in-country projects. In addition, the Programme Manager will work with partners and colleagues to discover and contribute to program growth and development.
Responsibilities
The Programme Manager’s tasks include:
- Supporting partners by giving technical assistance and experience on Sightsavers’ major thematic areas of activity, as well as direction to ensure project success.
- Support the creation and implementation of country advocacy plans under project objectives, and represent Sightsavers in appropriate venues with partners and stakeholders.
- Lead partnership assessment initiatives and establish a comprehensive plan for increasing partner capacity, as well as assist project officers in putting those plans into action.
- Oversee the work of the Programme Officers in managing all parts of the project cycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation, to ensure that project documentation and reporting are of high quality and satisfy donor/compliance standards.
- Lead the programme team in developing a plan for the office that incorporates country and organizational priorities and deadlines, and use it to ensure effective continuing program implementation.
- Assist the Senior Programme Manager in integrating individual and country learning/experience into broader organisational learning and policy development.
- Assist the country team in creating a framework for monitoring and evaluating national program portfolio performance.
- Provide guidance and assistance to country research teams in identifying operational research opportunities to increase the efficiency and efficacy of NTD elimination efforts, reduce avoidable blindness and visual impairment, and promote social inclusion.
- Assist project teams and country ministries of health in spreading information on social inclusion and NTD activities, studies, research, and lessons gained on a national and international scale.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for any safety events or issues.

Skill and Experience
As the ideal candidate, you will have work experience or a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, extensive experience working in an NGO environment in a leadership role with a background in line and team management, and knowledge of project design and management, budget development and monitoring, and resource management.
Further criteria include:
- Knowledge of lobbying, research, impact evaluation, partnership creation, and resource mobilization.
- Excellent report-writing skills.
- Strategic program development experience
- Safeguarding experience
- Experience working with partners and developing partnerships.
- Advocacy Experience
- Experience dealing with government organizations and the MOH.
