Root Capital Calls For Job Applications

POSITION: Portfolio Manager, Ghana

Agriculture holds the key to a brighter future for billions of people. However, while rural families support the world, they struggle to support themselves. Root Capital is a nonprofit social impact investor that invests in underdeveloped agriculture enterprises where others do not.

We support agricultural enterprises in the “missing middle” with funding and business training. These are enterprises that are too large for microloans but too small for commercial lenders. As these agricultural firms grow and scale, they become impact engines that help farming families, communities, and economies thrive.

We are the largest social investor in agricultural enterprises, having been founded in 1999. As a lender and a nonprofit, our unique strategy enables us to go where other financiers do not and assist agricultural firms in succeeding and growing. In Africa, Asia, and Latin America, our world-class team of experts selects, works with, and invests in extraordinary agricultural entrepreneurs.

Root Capital has invested $1.8 billion in over 750 agricultural operations over the last 23 years, demonstrating that these underserved businesses are bankable and investable. We have demonstrated that access to finance assists small businesses in succeeding and drives the economy. Root Capital’s investments and critical business and finance training have benefited 10 million farming households through job development, financial security, and climate resilience. We have offices in Costa Rica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru, Ghana, and Kenya, and our headquarters are in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
