POSITION: Cost Engineer

Tullow Oil is looking for a Cost Engineer to support the Ghana Operations team. The employment is full-time and headquartered in Accra, Ghana, with hybrid working conditions.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s major functions and responsibilities are as follows:
- Prepare and maintain a template to manage all Purchase Orders (POs) and budgets for the Operations function (Ops, Subsea, FPSO, Logistics, WRFM, etc.) and advise budget holders before POs and budgets are overspent in consultation with Contract and Procurement representatives.
- Play an important part in requisitioning actions to support operations by reviewing accuracy and ensuring that commitments are coded to the appropriate projects and work scopes.
- On a monthly basis, monitor and report on cost performance versus budget and contract terms in the consolidated Cost Report.
- Produce accurate cost reports that contain forecast costs, completion estimates, value of work done, and commitments against approved budgets.
- Calculate the Estimate to Complete based on progress and Operations/P&E integrated timelines.
- Provide expenditure phasing and predictions that are consistent with schedules and contract pay terms and conditions.
- Provide a Value of Work Done assessment based on the established progress system and contractor reports.
- Contract expense should be monitored, and contract value should be forecasted versus approved contract values.
- Prepare detailed budgets in accordance with the CBS, which will serve as the foundation for detailed-level cost reporting and analysis.
- Present weekly expense reports that reveal spend profiles and estimates.
- Prepare and participate in the presentation of the Asset Monthly Cost Report and its approval by the Cost Center Managers/Budget Holders.
- Compare actual spending to budgets, analyse variances, and identify corrective actions.
- Prepare agenda items for cost-review sessions.
Knowledge/Qualifications
- Engineering degree, project management, or similar project control experience
Skills/Professional Experience
- At least 5 years of cost engineering expertise, ideally in the offshore oil and gas business.
- Understanding and use of Cost and Planning Engineering principles.
- Knowledge in operations and project management, preferably in the offshore oil and gas industry.
- Good knowledge of planning, cost management, and reporting systems, as well as the ability to consolidate project data from multiple sources for presentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
- Confident user of other Microsoft Office apps.
