MDF West Africa (MDF WA) is a West African-based management consultation and training organization that has been designated as an Enterprise Support Organization. On May 15, 2009, MDF WA was registered to do business in Ghana as Management for Development Foundation (MDF) West Africa Limited, and it enables projects and programs, professionals, organizations, partnerships, and networks to achieve long-term and meaningful results for a better world.
We are a multi-project organization, which means we have roughly ten projects in progress at any given time. With a core group of 28 specialists and access to over 25 associate national, regional, and international consultants, we have substantial working experience in the (West) African setting, particularly in Ghana.
MDF WA combines the best of both worlds by being part of the MDF Global network and an independent Ghana-based regional management consulting and training organization. We have over 35 years of global experience in development intervention, project design, and program administration, supplemented by locally developed competence. Job Description
Type: Full-Time
Position Summary: Reports to the Director.
The Capacity Development Expert will play an important role in improving the skills and knowledge of our employees, partners, and stakeholders. The expert will spearhead capacity-building activities, create and implement training modules, and facilitate organizational growth and sustainability through customized development programs. The position necessitates a solid foundation in training and capacity building, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to work in a variety of cultural contexts.
Key Responsibilities
Capacity Building Strategy:
- Create, implement, and monitor an organizational capacity-building approach that aligns with program objectives.
- Conduct capacity assessments to identify skill and knowledge gaps inside the organization and among partners.
Training and facilitation:
- Create and deliver training modules, workshops, and practical sessions for team members, local partners, and stakeholders.
- Use adult learning concepts to create entertaining, effective, and useful training materials.
Technical Support and Coaching:
- Individuals and teams can benefit from technical assistance, mentoring, and coaching to increase their effectiveness and influence.
- Create frameworks and tools for self-assessment and improvement to promote lifelong learning and development.
Program Development and Evaluation:
- Collaborate with program teams to include capacity-building components in project designs.
- Establish monitoring and evaluation systems to measure the efficacy of capacity-building programs and assure ongoing improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Develop and maintain relationships with local partners, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to help achieve capacity-building objectives.
- Collaborate with other capacity-building professionals, NGOs, and academic institutions to share best practices and resources.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create thorough reports, case studies, and documentation detailing capacity-building actions and outcomes.\
- Keep detailed records of all training and coaching activities, and monitor the progress and effect of capacity-building programs.
Required Skill or Experience
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, organizational development, human resources, or a similar discipline is required, with a master’s degree recommended.
Experience:
- Minimum of [3-5] years of experience in capacity development, training, or a similar subject in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the public sector, or development organizations.
- Proven track record of developing and executing effective training and capacity-building initiatives.
- Experience with monitoring and evaluating capacity-building activities.
Skills:
- Capable of engaging diverse audiences through strong facilitation and coaching skills.
- Excellent written and spoken communication abilities.
- Proficiency in [Languages, if applicable] and fluency in [main language, such as English].
- Experience with adult learning principles, participatory methodologies, and cross-cultural communication.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze facts to make informed decisions.
Technical:
- Experience with capacity assessment tools, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and knowledge management tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and virtual collaboration platforms.
