POSITION: Lead Engineer 1- Customer Application Engineering
The Regional Customer Application Engineer, in coordination with the Account/Sales Manager, is responsible for positioning GE Vernova’s products and configurations with customers before the firm bids. The RCAE must understand the customer, their business model, the market, the economics, technical requirements, and the drivers behind each opportunity.
The RCAE leverages this expertise, as well as her/his market understanding, to influence the client and position GEV’s goods and preferred configuration before the firm bid. Working with the Account/Sales Manager, the RCAE develops a technical plan for an opportunity, utilizing experience from the Value Solutions and Application Engineering teams before passing it on to the ITO teams.
Each RCAE has experience in thermal modeling Gas Power Systems product lines such as its state-of-the-art H-class heavy-duty gas turbine, B, E, and F-class gas turbines, aeroderivative gas turbines, hydrogen fuel applications, carbon capture, and sequestration (CCS) solutions, understanding the markets our customers work in, economic evaluation of plant configurations, and understanding GEV’s preferred configuration strategy.
Job Description
What you will do:
- Own pre-ITO technical deliverables for all typical opportunities, obtained directly from designated account managers. For complicated opportunities, may own with support from the larger applications team, or may assist another more experienced AE team member in leading.
- Collect information from customers and other sources on each opportunity, as well as the customer’s development plan, strategy, and evaluation technique.
- Inform customers about GE Vernova’s technologies and solutions through in-person and online presentations.
- Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle (CC), and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants can be modeled using thermodynamic modeling software.
- When applicable, collaborate across functions to optimize configurations.
- Conduct an economic life-cycle review of GE Vernova and rival solutions for projects before issuing a formal Request For Proposal (RFP).
- Work closely with New Unit Sales, as well as the larger Applications Engineering and Product Line Management teams, to ensure GE Vernova’s competitive advantage.
- Assess product fit and develop an influencing strategy to best position GE Vernova before a firm offer. Products include a heavy-duty gas turbine, an aeroderivative gas turbine, a steam turbine, a generator, and a heat recovery steam generator.
- Work closely with New Unit Sales to provide a pre-ITO level of technical information flow for gas power projects.
- Respond to customer requests for technical information before the RFP, such as transmission interconnect data and emissions data for permitting.
- Define and explain to the ITO proposal team the project’s history, optimal configuration, required approvals, and bid strategy.
- Collect competition data to facilitate post-win and post-mortem analysis.
- Analyze and report back to the business on regional customer needs and trends.
- Provide customer feedback to internal functions (such as Solution Architect and Value Engineering) on preferred configuration designs and strategies.
What you will bring (basic qualifications):
- An advanced engineering degree is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of GE Gas Power’s products and technology (heavy-duty gas turbine and/or aeroderivatives, steam turbine, CC, CHP), processes, and organizational structure.
- Experience with thermal performance simulation tools (GTP, Ebsilon, etc.)
- Prior experience in the design, construction, or operation of large power plants.
- Proactively seeks broad input before making binding choices, and keeps up with the newest industry developments.

- Excellent English written and vocal communication skills, both one-on-one and with big groups.
