Job Summary

To provide strategic direction for Absa Bank of Ghana’s creation, direction, and implementation of alternative channels, collaborations, and new business development, while also ensuring that the business is operationally capable of meeting the group’s objectives. Understand and contribute to the business strategy in terms of digital and alternative channel strategy by discovering essential alliances and new business areas that complement the overall customer experience, always keeping the consumer in mind.

Develop and align alliances and new business strategies to ensure increasing market share and revenue, market positioning, and an improved value proposition and customer experience, all while providing consistent high-quality service across the country. Furthermore, accelerates the transformation of product and technological capabilities to support digital and alternative channels.

Job Description.

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Plan, manage, lead, and drive company operations across all digital banking platforms (SHM, internet banking, and mobile apps).
  • Create product policies to help develop the product portfolio.
  • Conduct market research on any new items released to ensure product characteristics meet client needs.
  • Determine appropriate products/services for target segments and customers, and prepare them for execution.
  • Review digital, partnership, and new business strategic action plans, and hold yourself accountable for measuring the performance of new and established collaborations.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to acquire development support, prioritize systems, and create testing plans.
  • Execute a long-term strategy to increase customer awareness, engagement, experience, and commercialization.
  • Contribute to the organization’s digital transformation and growth.
  • Ensure effective product launches by delegating all aspects to relevant expert areas like as marketing communications, training, systems and operations availability, and contingency planning.
  • Anticipate global trends, anticipate potential repercussions on the business, and provide direction and answers to the organization.
  • Help with anticipating product demand volumes and monitoring that demand.
  • Pricing optimization and preventing income leakages
  • Track and assess product performance on a monthly and annual basis, and offer corrective actions for shortcomings.
  • Lead the charge in our efforts to be inventive, cost-effective, and lucrative in delivery by creating and delivering fit-for-purpose alternative channel options.
  • Keep track of service level agreements (both internal and external) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Achieve operational rigor excellence in all parts of procedures and processes, and ensure that suitable controls are implemented to achieve a green audit.

30% Delivery of Product Development

  • Maximize business efficiencies to provide clients with better products and services at a profit.
  • Review and monitor competitor product offerings to ensure Absa’s digital payment products have a competitive advantage.
  • Repackage existing product range in response to changing client needs.
  • Evaluate, plan, optimize, and deliver product design enhancements, bearing full responsibility for the quality of service provided to consumers throughout the product portfolio.
  • Create and maintain effective stakeholder management plans through a network of
  • External alliances within the organization, the online and telecom industries, and various other business partners optimize the delivery and operation of the digital and alternative channel value chains under the strategy and acceptable standards.
  • Product specifications should be reviewed regularly to ensure they are in line with the business strategy. Recommend any changes required to fulfill the expectations of target client categories while remaining compliant with Bank policies and procedures. Ensure that the legal and contingency needs of the product set are established.

30% Business Management

Support portfolio management

  • Contribute to the improvement of service delivery by discussing the impact of both global and local competition; technology, rising customer needs, and increased regulatory control in the industry.
  • Champion the necessary culture transformation in the business, emphasizing acceptable ways of engaging with stakeholders throughout Absa and the industry, as well as promoting good customer experience and retention, sales performance, and operational disciplines.
  • Create methods to drive Portfolio initiatives and increase book size.
  • Collaborate with marketing and other important divisions to supplement marketing initiatives.
  • Report on spend campaign performance.

10% Sales Support

  • Support the commercial and sales teams (e.g., Sales Managers, LGs, and RMs).
  • Responsible for evaluating and delivering new product improvements and enhancements.
  • Training and pricing decisions
  • Product maintenance and compliance answers.

15% Operational Rigour

Outputs:

  • Achieve operational excellence in all aspects of procedures and processes to guarantee a successful audit.
  • Ensure compliance with operational risk and rigour requirements, such as health and safety regulations, facility security, and so on.
  • Comply with applicable legislation, such as KYC, banking code service requirements, fraud prevention, and money laundering protocols.
  • Generate reports for any risk occurrences that occur.
  • Conduct RCA and Snap Checks.

10% Self

  • Determine performance growth targets with the team leader.
  • Pursue self-development to boost personal effectiveness, recognizing your strengths and opportunities for improvement.

5% Education and Experience Required

  • Degree: Graduate
  • Excellent understanding of the retail and business banking pricing models.
  • At least two years of comprehensive knowledge of Absa’s digital banking and policies

Knowledge and Skills: (Maximum of six)

  • A thorough understanding of Absa goods and the supporting systems, as well as a good awareness of Absa Group products.
  • A complete understanding of Absa Africa’s digital banking offerings.
  • A thorough awareness of the product offered in the larger financial services business.
  • A thorough understanding of Absa Africa’s strategy and policies.
  • A thorough understanding of the RBB pricing models and revenue streams.
  • A thorough understanding of the digital payments industry.
  • Detailed understanding of customer purchasing behaviour, marketing strategies, and emerging trends.
  • An understanding of customer segmentation theory and application.
  • A thorough awareness of industrial, advisory, regulatory, and professional bodies.
  • A strong understanding of financial services legislation and channel delivery.
  • Good grasp of report writing, executive summaries, and briefs.
