POSITION: Exams Invigilators
Job Objective
To guarantee that every examination conducted by the British Council proceeds efficiently on the scheduled test day/s and that all designated test day responsibilities and criteria are fulfilled.
Primary Responsibilities
The invigilator will be responsible for upholding the integrity and reputation of the British Council and the different examination boards by guaranteeing that tests are conducted according to set standards for customer service, security, and administration. They will also be responsible for enhancing the British Council’s image by delivering excellent customer care on the day of the test.
Program/service assistance
- Arrive at the testing location at the scheduled time. If there are any delays or if you cannot reach the test venue, please notify the relevant test day or British Council Examinations Services staff promptly.
- Adhere to all applicable standards and procedures according to the training and reference materials supplied by the British Council Examinations Services and the respective Exam Boards.
- Know the emergency protocols for the testing location on the day of the exam.
- Supervise exams according to the standards set by the British Council Examinations Service and the appropriate exam boards.
- Continuously observe candidates during examinations to ensure that test conditions are not breached.
- Assist the supervisor in making sure that candidates enjoy a positive and uniform experience on test day and have a favourable impression of the British Council.
- Make sure that all materials are properly accounted for and securely given to the supervisor.
- Fill out and uphold precise documentation of exam tasks. Ensure that all reports, logs, and claims are filled out correctly as mandated by British Council Examinations Services.
- Adhere to all pertinent guidelines and policies concerning: Data Protection, Child Safety, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Diversity, and Anti-Fraud measures.
- Notify the relevant test day supervisor of any incidents, emergencies, or security breaches.
- Collaborate with the test day supervisor to enhance and safeguard the well-being of candidates at all times. In the event of emergencies, adhere to appropriate protocols.
- Additional responsibilities related to the position may be necessary.
Client assistance
- Facilitate smooth customer movement by providing candidates with clear guidance and addressing their questions.
- Make sure candidates adhere to the established exam protocols concerning the whereabouts and safety of their possessions.
- Perform candidate entry, exit, identity verification, and Test Day Photography protocols in line with exam standards.
- Make sure appropriate accommodations are made as necessary.
Training and development
- Participate in all briefing and training sessions required by the British Council Examinations Services Centre.
- Finish all required training modules: Data Protection, Child Protection, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Diversity, Anti-Fraud, and Identity Checks as needed.
Additional Significant Aspects Or Necessities Of The Position
- Certain invigilators might need to travel, which can involve staying overnight. Most will not need this requirement. In the recruitment process, you will be asked to express your readiness to travel.
- You must remain highly attentive while monitoring candidates; to look and listen to the happenings in the examination room.
- Even if there isn’t a specific uniform for your position, you should consistently dress in accordance with the cultural norms of the country you are in and your role, as you represent the British Council while performing your responsibilities. Nonetheless, it is advised that you wear comfortable, soft footwear. We will not allow loud footwear and distracting accessories.
Requirements
- Related experience in managing the manufacturing of products/provision of services.
Required
- University qualification in any field or related credential.
Knowledge and Experience Specific to the Role
- Experience in planning and executing in a high-speed operational setting at a managerial level.
- Experience in leading small groups or showing potential for management.
- Experience in implementing change in delivery and ensuring that new methods of operation are integrated.
Desired
- Experience in an examination setting.
- Experience in overseeing the execution of computer-based examinations.
