Job Description.
Autoshack is looking for an experienced AUTOMOTIVE AIR CONDITIONING SPECIALIST to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Installs and maintains car air conditioning units, including bolting the compressor to the engine block and installing the drive pulley on the front end of the crankshaft.
- Attaches fan belt to pulleys, adjusts tension, and tightens bolts.
- Install the evaporator unit under the dashboard or in the boot.
- Welds or bolts mounting brackets to the car frame.
- Drills holes in interior panels, threads hoses through the holes, and connects them to the compressor, evaporator, and cool-air output.
- Refills the compressor with refrigerant and starts the unit.
- Using a gauge, the compressor pressure is measured to determine its efficiency.
- Listens to the working unit for signs of malfunction.
- Removes malfunctioning units from vehicles, disassembles them, and replaces worn or broken parts and fluid in the unit.
- Makes electrical connections as needed.
- May specialise in car air-conditioning unit installation and be designated as a car Air-Conditioner Installer.
Required Skill or Experience
- The ability to diagnose air conditioning systems autonomously with little to no supervision.
- Proactive, technically inclined, and able to think critically.
- A thorough understanding of car air conditioning systems and failure modes
- Ability to utilise AC gauges, vacuum pumps and exchanger machines, or willingness to learn rapidly.
- Computer proficient and able to use diagnostic tools
