POSITION: Transport Manager
Job Description
Our international client, who specializes in Fast-Moving Consumable Goods (FMCG), is searching for an experienced Transport Manager to join their team. You will report to the General Manager and be largely responsible for handling the company’s transportation operations, which include directing, coordinating, and planning assignments.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that vehicles are adequately maintained under legislative requirements.
- Maintain compliance with company policy and transportation legislation.
- Periodic assessment of company fleets and advice as needed.
- Arrange for repairs and routine maintenance, as well as reporting on the needs of vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure that all drivers and operators have current qualifications.
- Create and implement solutions to mitigate the danger of vehicle overloading.
- Keep and complete correct records.
- Assist the Audit and Account divisions with periodic reconciliation of fuel coupons acquired.
- Ensure that the planning and supervision of loads from the warehouse to their various destinations is completed on time.
- Plan daily and weekly routes with the sales staff.
- Daily tracking of vehicle routes and whereabouts at any given moment through functioning systems.
- Coordinate with Warehouse staff to guarantee correct product storage and distribution.
- Monitor and report on transportation expenditures, while ensuring that all necessary transport documentation is properly filed.
- Investigate and propose cost-effective solutions for the transportation department.
- Organize road safety training and workshop sessions for drivers and operators in collaboration with the HR department.
- Maintain records for cars, timetables, and completed orders.
- Stay up to date on safety regulations.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly transportation reports for management advice.
Requirements
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical
- Engineering (Automobile Option) or a comparable subject.
- You must have at least five (5) years of experience in the same or related role.
- Knowledge of how to utilize a GPS vehicle tracking system will be advantageous.
- Outstanding critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Outstanding organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, team-playing, and time management abilities.
- Have great negotiation skills and the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
