New Job Offer at World University Service of Canada (WUSC)

POSITION TITLE: Zonal Coordinator

Company Profile

The Canadian non-profit World University Service of Canada (WUSC) works to improve the world for all youth. We connect students, volunteers, institutions, governments, and corporations who support our objective. Also, We work together to challenge injustice and exclusion among youth worldwide, especially young women and refugees, via education, economic opportunity, and empowerment.

In 25 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, WUSC spends about CAD $40 million annually. Over 90 people work in our Ottawa office and over 200 people work on 16 development projects with donors like Global Affairs Canada, DFID, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Mastercard Foundation, and the African Development Bank.

ACTIVATE, a five-year collaborative project, will help Ghana build a stronger, gender-responsive, socially inclusive, and market-driven Agriculture Technical, Vocational Education, and Training (ATVET) System that promotes long-term employment, well-being, and resilience among young women and men.

To promote agripreneurship, ACTIVATE will provide education and high-quality, market-relevant skills training in certain agriculture value chains. To create decent work for young people, the project will remove gender-specific barriers, raise youth voices and aspirations, and incorporate a strong inclusivity lens for gender and disability. It will also foster collaboration and linkages among key stakeholders like public and private actors, academia, and agriculture value chain actors.

Insufficient management capacity of ATVET sector facilitation bodies, non-alignment of new TVET policies and reforms across sector ministries, low quality of ATVET instruction, curriculum, and equipment, lack of industry engagement, and poor business skills are among the issues ACTIVATE will address in agriculture and adjacent sectors.
