POSITION: Research Manager

Simprints collaborates with organizations such as Gavi to increase immunization rates in developing countries, Ministries of Health such as Ghana to respond to pandemics, and non-governmental organizations such as BRAC to provide maternal healthcare.

According to studies, Simprints boosts impact through real-time, precision data, such as improving maternal health visits by 38% in Bangladesh and accurate HIV tracing by 62% in Malawi. Today, we have worked in more than 17 countries, providing health, aid, and financing to nearly 2.5 million individuals. Our objective is to change the way the world tackles poverty by ensuring that every vaccine, cash, and public good reaches those who need it the most.

Simprints received grant funding to conduct a large-scale randomized control trial (RCT) in Ghana to evaluate its solution. Simprints’ Delivery team will rely on you as Research Manager to oversee the study’s seamless and timely execution, donor reporting, and Ghana Health Services meetings. The post will focus on project management and research coordination with our local partner, Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) Ghana.

Working with the Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impact to establish a research and evidence-building strategy and give technical assistance to evaluation and research projects, the Research Manager will help Simprints build global evidence.

As Research Manager, you will work with the Simprints project team in Ghana, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impacting colleagues worldwide and academics from top universities to build strong working relationships and deliver world-class research.

Department Overview

Simprints’ Delivery team is in charge of ensuring that our initiatives are implemented successfully in the field. They collaborate closely with partners and internal teams to ensure that projects run smoothly and meet both technical and operational criteria, resulting in maximum effect.

Key goals:

  • Ensure the successful implementation and execution of projects in the field.
  • Collaborate with partners and internal teams to achieve project objectives and schedules.
  • Continuously improve project delivery methods to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an RCT study in Ghana, managing all phases of the trial, including planning, data collecting, analysis, and dissemination, while communicating with partners and ensuring adherence to study protocols.
  • Coordinate all field research operations with study partners and the Simprints implementation team to ensure project deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Identify and reduce project risks, and take appropriate, effective, and timely action, including cooperating with cross-departmental colleagues to overcome bottlenecks and satisfy implementation requirements.
  • Create a detailed research implementation strategy and update it as the project advances.
  • Travel to project sites in Oti to assist with data collection-related field activities, ensuring that they are completed on schedule and to the best quality standards possible.
  • Represent Simprints in project regions (Oti) and districts. Maintain excellent relationships with our important stakeholders, including government officials and IPA. Ghana
  • Coordinate with the Simprints Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impact team in Ghana to ensure that project monitoring and evaluation learnings are integrated into research efforts and implementation.
  • Ensure that donor reports are timely, accurate, and meet all donor expectations. This contains KPIs, milestones, and semi-annual reports.
  • Provide technical support to Simprints’ global evidence-building projects, including establishing research design and methodology for research initiatives within the global portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impact to establish and implement an evidence-building plan, including a research agenda and funding strategy.

Required Skill or Experience

  • A master’s degree or higher in public health, social sciences, development studies, or a similar discipline, with a strong emphasis on research methodology and impact evaluation, preferably within the health sector.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting research, monitoring, and evaluation in the international development and global health sectors.
  • 5+ years of experience directing or coordinating multi-partner research projects, reconciling technical needs with practical realities on the ground.
  • A thorough understanding of key research principles and methods, such as methodology, data gathering, and analysis.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • Experience coordinating with GHS (or other government stakeholders) would be a significant asset.
  • Experience with USAID grant management or other institutional sources.
  • Organised, process-oriented, and committed to completing planned tasks and activities.
  • You understand how to assign and move resources to support team members as needed, ensuring that project deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Preferred knowledge in digital health is understanding the digital ecosystem in Ghana, particularly in connection to child immunization.
  • Preferred abilities include proficiency with digital task management platforms such as Jira, Asana, Click-up, and others.
  • The position demands regular travel inside Ghana’s Oti area.
