POSITION: Investment Analyst – Scalable Enterprises in Accra
Norfund is searching for an analyst who is passionate about investing and private sector development in developing countries to join our team. The contract is for a definite time and will be headquartered in our Western Africa Office in Accra.
The Norfund Western Africa office serves Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Cameroon, and other nations in Sub-Saharan Africa. Norfund’s investment areas include renewable energy, financial inclusion, and scalable enterprises (funds, agribusinesses, manufacturing, and green infrastructure). The function will primarily be associated with Scalable Enterprises, although it will also operate across other industries.
We are looking for a results-oriented individual with a strong interest in impact investing and active ownership. It is critical that you enjoy working both independently and as part of a team, and that you can provide a valuable resource to others in our investing divisions. The employee will work on project teams for a variety of investments and report to the Regional Director for Western Africa.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Support investment teams in all phases of the investment process, from assessing new prospects to investment, development, and exit, in our Western African countries.
- Financial analysis, valuation, financial modeling, and the development of investment proposals and papers
- Conduct investment research and national and industry analyses.
- Assist the project leader with active ownership of portfolio companies.
- Update the portfolio management systems and investment activity reports.
- Assist in the assessment of hazards and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
Specific qualifications for this position:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in business, economics, finance, or a related field, with a solid academic record.
- A team player with strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and solid interpersonal skills
- Result-oriented having an organized, proactive, and efficient working style
- Excellent English communication abilities, both written and spoken. Language skills of the covering countries in Western Africa are advantageous.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
- Previous experience in investment analysis, equities research, or portfolio management is advantageous.
