Bixal is seeking a Communications Advisor to support the USAID/West Africa Collaborating, Learning, Adapting, and Monitoring Platform (CLAMP) Activity. Accra, Ghana, will host this full-time position. This job manages part-time communications consultants and reports to the Chief of Party.
In addition to generating communication products for internal U.S. government and external stakeholders, the CLAMP Communications Advisor will facilitate and implement the project’s communication strategy. The Communications Advisor will use the best technical practices and methods to communications strategy development and implementation. This position will create communication of project scopes and goals to gain stakeholder buy-in. The Communications Advisor will lead a team of editors, graphic designers, GIS specialists, multimedia editors, and event specialists to design, develop, and distribute robust communications products, events, and campaigns. This job will create timelines, enforce them, and brief project staff and stakeholders. This job will work closely with CLAMP technical advisors and clients to align scopes, vision, and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Implement CLAMP Activity communication strategy, including developing and distributing effective communication products and campaigns while aligning clients.
- Define communications project goals, scope, and deliverables.
- Create newsletters, reports, infographics, flyers, banners, briefings, one-pagers, and multimedia products to effectively communicate complicated information and data.
- Establish communications SOPs, processes, and team culture, including a learning and improvement environment.
- Work with CLAMP staff and events specialists to design, promote, and manage project events in accordance with the project’s communication goals and methods.
- Lead a team of communications consultants to produce high-quality products on time.
- Ensure materials, campaigns, and events are accessible, 508-compliant, and follow USAID branding standards.
- Use analytics to track communications product, campaign, and event engagement and make adjustments.
- To match goals and goods, collaborate with clients, colleagues, and partners.
- To support the communications team, develop new processes and ensure adequate project staffing and allocation tracking.
- Collaborate with GIS professionals to share map data and represent the organization at client events and forums to foster industry contacts.
- Help Bixal acquire new clients by supporting business development strategies to increase its business in each of its areas of expertise.
- Do other tasks or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 8 years of experience designing, supervising, and implementing
- Communication strategy and campaigns; USAID experience preferable.
- Strong project management skills to set realistic deadlines, keep part-time personnel and consultants on track, and assure timely client feedback.
- Professional French and English skills.
- Leadership experience with events, graphic design, GIS, editors, 508 compliance, and other communications consultants.
- Managing events from 20-person workshops to 200-person conferences
- Knowing Ghanaian and West African culture and context, ability to foster a positive work culture and respect teammates’ progress and skills.
- Solid interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
- Giving constructive feedback
- Strong writing skills for various contexts and subject types
- Ability to develop communications strategy, target audiences, and products for them
- Ability to discover, track, and review metrics and adjust approaches based on results
- Cross-cultural and multilingual competence
- Ability to collaborate with US and Ghanaian remote workers
- Printer, event location, and other third-party vendor experience
