APPOINTMENT OF LECTURERS

The C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) is a Public University established in 2019 by the CKT-UTAS Act 1000.

The CKT-UTAS, which is located in Navrongo, Upper East Region, Ghana, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointment as Lecturers:

A. SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY 

The Applicant seeking this Appointment must have:

1. Terminal Degree (PhD) in related subject area
2. Attained Lecturer position from a recognized higher education institution

Areas of Specialization

1. Midwifery
2. Paediatric Nursing
3. General/adult Nursing
4. Mental/learning disabilities health Nursing
5. Public health Nursing

Teaching & Learning Criteria

1. Engaged in evidenced based Teaching in higher education
2. Used a range of delivery methods to engage students
3. Contributed to developing teaching and learning materials
4. Understanding of quality of assurance of higher education programmes
5. Used Online learning systems
6. Competent in clinical skills instruction
7. Applied blended learning

Research/Grantsmanship

1. Adequate knowledge of the body of knowledge in the subject discipline
2. Experience of research in subject discipline
3. Published in peer reviewed journals
4. Engage in collaborative research in specialised subject area
5. Ability to tender and obtain external research funding

B. SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION 

Areas of Specialization

1. Physics Education
2. Mathematics Education
3. Foundation and Basic Education
4. Technical/Vocational Education
5. Sports Science Education

Qualifications

The applicant seeking this appointment must:

1. Have a PhD in either Physics Education, Mathematics Education, Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, Early Grade/Childhood Education, Basic Education, Technical/Vocational Education, or Physical Education/Sports Science.
2. Have at least three (3) peered-reviewed publications in reputable and highly ranked journals.
3. Have a minimum of three (3) years teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution, and
4. Preferably, the applicant should not be more than 40 years old.

C. FACULTY OF EARTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES 

Areas of Specialization

1. Petrology
2. Mineral Economy
3. Hydrogeology (With Chemistry)
4. Engineering Geology

Qualifications

The applicant seeking this appointment must:

1. Have a PhD in either Petrology, Mineral Economy, Hydrogeology (With Chemistry), Engineering Geology, Geology, Earth Science, or Engineering Geology.
2. Have at least three (3) peered-reviewed publications in reputable and highly ranked journals.
3. Have a minimum of three (3) years teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution, and
4. Preferably, the applicant should not be more than 40 years old.

D. SCHOOL OF MODERN LANGUAGES 

Areas of Specialization

1. French Language
2. English Language

Qualifications

The applicant seeking this appointment must:

1. Have a PhD in either French Language or English Language.
2. Have at least three (3) peered-reviewed publications in reputable and highly ranked journals.
3. Have a minimum of three (3) years teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution, and
4. Preferably, the applicant should not be more than 40 years old.

E. FACULTY OF APPLIED SCIENCES 

Areas of Specialization

1. Biochemistry
2. Medical Physics
3. Geophysics
4. Meteorology and Aerosol Science

Qualifications

The applicant seeking this appointment must:

1. Have a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology, Forensic Biotechnology, Nutritional Biochemistry, Medical Physics, Geophysics, Meteorology and Aerosol Science, Plant Biology, Animal Biology or Laboratory Technology.
2. Have at least three (3) peered-reviewed publications in reputable and highly ranked journals.
3. Have a minimum of three (3) years teaching and research experience in a tertiary institution, and
4. Preferably, the applicant should not be more than 40 years old.

F. FACULTY OF MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES 

Areas of Specialization

1. Pure Mathematics
2. Applied Mathematics  
3. Finance (or Financial Mathematics)  
4. Actuarial Science

Qualifications

• The applicant must have an PhD in the in the respective areas.
• Having research publications in peer-reviewed journals of good reputation and teaching experience at the tertiary level will be an added advantage to the applicant.
• Preferably, the applicant should not be more than 40 years old.

Job Description

The duties and responsibilities of successful applicants under the Academic Staff Category shall include, but not limited to,

• Innovative and practical teaching and research
• curriculum development and revision
• setting and marking assignments and examination questions
• invigilation of examinations
• submitting marked scripts and results
• supervising students’ project work, dissertations and theses
• offering academic counselling to students; assisting in the administration of the University
• supervising students’ internships and fieldworks or industrial attachment
• mentoring junior colleagues; providing extension and outreach services
• mentoring junior colleagues; providing extension and outreach services to the University; and
• carrying out any other duties assigned by the Vice Chancellor or his/her representative.
