Purpose
The KM and Research Coordinator is part of the Programme Effectiveness Portfolio, which uses traditional and digital learning approaches to develop and implement innovative, creative, and effective ways to strategically capture and share technical knowledge, leverage best practices, and improve the effectiveness of development programs at World Vision Ghana.
The team will be in charge of a wide range of operations, including identifying, managing, packaging, and disseminating critical information to promote technical practice and give practitioners the tools they need to undertake better development work. The KM Specialist will organize and support learning events, conduct research, create tools and guidance, and enable continuing content development and interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the WVG Program and Project Management Information System (Horizon Reimagine) and any KM repositories.
- Liaise with regional and global focus persons to ensure the WVG system is operational.
- Ensure that the program and project planning materials are on Horizon Reimagine.
- Periodic staff capacity building on all Horizon Reimagine components, in collaboration with the major implementing Department or units (RAM Unit, Programs, and Sponsorship)
- Improve the usage of country data in the systems to generate reports and strategic analysis.
- Ensure the optimal use of the WVG WV Central page.
- Improve the development and maintenance of information systems (Horizon, WV Central, etc.) in partnership with IT professionals.
Coordinate WVG research.
- Contribute content to the development of research funding proposals, budget narratives, institutional review board (IRB) research proposals, and research reports.
- Compiles, processes, and analyzes data; documents research techniques and results; stores and maintains records; codes data for electronic data processing; and enters and retrieves data using computers.
- Monitor research plans and implementation.
- Coordinate and support feasibility studies and evaluations.
- Document study findings at conferences or in published articles under the advice of the
- Senior Programme Effectiveness Manager.
- Create and maintain research databases.
- Build networks with educational and research institutes to do research on CWB.
- Collaborate with WV Learning Centers and Communities of Practice to help the NO conduct research that promotes child well-being monitoring and reporting.
Strategic Technical Leadership in the development, review, and implementation of Knowledge Management Strategies, Guidelines, and Policies.
- Collaborate with Regional Knowledge Management, Senior Programme Effectiveness Manager, and Technical Leads to create and implement the Knowledge Management Technical Approach in accordance with national, regional, and partnership strategic direction.
- Document and share learning: Ensure that requirements, lessons learned, and best practices for methods, models, events, and other knowledge management activities are explicit and documented.
- In conjunction with Technical Leads, provide technical leadership in implementing and integrating the KM business strategy within theme areas of the WVG strategy.
- Lead the examination and socialization of the knowledge management policy and business plan across all initiatives and projects in the NO.
- Develop strategic ties with learning institutions and professional groups to facilitate learning and the documentation of best practices.
- Represent WVG in strategic KM coordinating forums on the national and international levels.
- Ensure personnel are aware of the KM resources available to assist their job and are using the system efficiently and productively to communicate information.
- Provide a one-stop shop for all necessary proof of WVG initiatives to encourage donor and partner involvement.
- Collaborate with the Communication and RAM Units to promote WVG externally.
Building staff capacity in knowledge management and research.
- Develop reflection tools and processes, and train staff on how to do reflection.
- Assist staff in capturing and analyzing data for decision-making. Promote the development of “knowledge professionals” through learning and reflection.
- Opportunities to ensure a stream of professional experience and assistance on all elements of knowledge management as needed.
- Ensure staff participates and contributes to appropriate communities of practice.
Support the management of PEU plans.
- Help design department strategies and budgets, prepare progress reports, and communicate with important stakeholders.
- Report and analyze data on the progress of departmental plans.
- Creating a coordinated PE important event schedule and supporting its implementation by following up with responsible staff and assisting with event planning.
- Organizing, coordinating, creating agendas, and taking minutes at weekly and quarterly PE management meetings, as well as monitoring the timely implementation of critical action points and decisions.
- Plan and oversee the documentation process for significant PE events, as well as the dissemination of information and reports.

Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Technological Skills, and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in the social sciences and/or humanities, or a master’s degree with three years.
- Demonstrates awareness of knowledge management principles and the ability to deliver knowledge management and/or organizational learning activities.
- Working knowledge of research concepts, technical methods, and processes for conducting a systematic and objective investigation, including data input, gathering, and analysis, as well as summarizing and reporting results; working knowledge of statistics and related information technology.
- Possess a suitable level of technical competence or knowledge in the social development area and keep up with current advances and trends in the area(s) of research.
- Experience with database management
- High-level mental and analytical abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent relational and communication skills.
- Commitment to World Vision’s purpose and partnership principles, as well as sensitivity to how they are expressed across cultures and denominations.
- Must be a devout Christian capable of overcoming denominational differences.
- Must have an understanding of computer software such as MS Office and database administration.
Working Environment and Conditions
- Work environment: Office-based, with some travel
- Travel: 30%.
- On call: 30%.
