- Position: ARCHIVIST
- REPORT TO: UNIVERSITY ARCHIVIST
JOB ROLE
An Archivist’s major role is to organize, preserve, and make documents accessible to carry out various operations in fulfillment of the University’s mandate, as well as to contribute to the University’s mission and vision. The responsibilities of the Archivist include:
- Conducting record surveys.
- Identify and identify potential archival materials.
- Schedules for preparation, retention, and disposition.
- Creation of archival finding aids.
- Provide reference services.
- Educating staff, students, and other clients on the importance of records.
- Helping with the training and supervision of lower employees.
- Assisting with project communication and meeting activities.
Qualifications & Experience
The applicants must:
To apply, candidates must be a Senior Administrative Assistant at the University of Ghana, hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, have a Master’s degree in Archival Studies/Information Studies from a recognized university, and have at least two years of relevant post-Master’s degree experience.
Required knowledge, ability, and abilities.
- Applicants must be of high integrity and capable of handling sensitive and confidential material.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines.
- Very motivated and resourceful.
- Excellent ICT skills.
