POSITION: Physicochemical Lab. Technician

About the Role
In this position, you will check the quality of materials and finished products daily to ensure they meet standards. You will collect, organize, analyze, and share your findings with the Quality Control coordinator and other team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze raw cocoa beans and cocoa products based on quality plans.
- Monitor processes by taking samples and sharing results with the team.
- Prepare and combine samples for analysis according to the plan.
- Check for shells in nibs from finished product samples to meet customer needs.
- Test nibs from production for shell compliance.
- Ensure that all product batches have gone through sampling for analysis.
- Daily check chlorine levels in process water to meet standards.
- Perform standard analysis to confirm rapid testing methods.
- Keep production informed about quality during the analysis.
- Report any product issues for follow-up.
- Prepare standard solutions for testing.
- Help with sample preparation for taste testing when needed.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments as required.
- Follow safety practices in the lab. – Keep track of inventory in the lab.
- Inspect the packaging and raw materials according to quality plans.
- Keep the lab clean and organized at all times.
- Validate processes to ensure accurate results.
- Update product analysis results in systems like SAP and others as required.
- Perform microbiological tests when needed.
- Take on other tasks as assigned.
About You
- You should have an HND in Science Laboratory Technology or a similar qualification with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- You need to be knowledgeable about lab equipment and procedures, including various types of chemical and microbiological analysis.
- You should be skilled in analytical techniques and familiar with MS Office; knowledge of SAP is a plus.
- Furthermore, you must be able to make accurate decisions and work well under pressure.
- Teamwork and strong communication skills are essential as well as meeting deadlines.
