About the Role
We are searching for our new Managing Director for Ghana, who will be in charge of overseeing all functional areas of the business (sourcing, sustainability, traceability, finance, manufacturing, supply chain, people, and compliance) and leading the organization with full market profit and loss accountability. You will oversee the implementation of global and regional strategies in partnership with regional functional leads. As Managing Director, you will be in charge of all parts of Barry Callebaut’s business in Ghana, particularly manufacturing and LBC operations.
Key roles include:
- Direct Sourcing & Plant Management
- Management of manufacturing, procurement, and sustainability
- Ensures that customer obligations are made and that sourcing for bean export and factory targets is reached.
- Ensure that sustainability targets and commitments are met.
- Ensure that promises regarding EUDR laws and BC sourcing policy requirements are met.
General Management
- Responsible for the country’s profit and loss, both for the factory and for LBC.
- Oversee the daily operations and administrative processes.
Representation
- Local representation at various organizations, like CocoBod and CMC.
- Position Barry Callebaut is a valued and loyal partner for everyone who cares about the promotion and sustainability of the cocoa industry in the country.
Finance & Capex
- Maintain cost control operations, monitor revenues and expenditures in designated areas to maintain solid financial control, and ensure effective and optimized financial management with a view to profitability and risk management.
- Participate in establishing the budget, making optimal use of allotted cash, materials, and facilities
Compliance & Legal
- Oversee and ensure compliance with internal procedures, and enforce ethical business practices.
- Attend appropriate meetings with lawyers and represent companies before the legal authorities.
People & Leadership
- Effectively recruit and assist the growth of an efficient cross-functional team with the required competencies. Maintain corporate culture and unite employees, as well as devotion to a similar direction.
- Provide leadership and vision as we guide individuals through transformation and change in our business.
About You
- Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics, administration, or agriculture.
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in French is a plus.
- Minimum of 15 years of business management experience in agriculture or commodity contexts.
- Commodity experience is a necessity; cocoa is preferred.
- Ability to conceive, manage, and follow up on complex and interdependent cross-functional projects
- Excellent grasp of management, finance, and accounting, among other things.
- Interpret performance measuring indications; identify root reasons, and follow up with the appropriate solutions.
- Strong business and managerial abilities in manufacturing and cocoa sourcing.
