Job Description.
Plantations Socfinaf Ghana (PSG) Limited is looking for suitable candidates to fill the following positions: Medical laboratory technicians report to the Medical Superintendent.
JOB PURPOSE
To perform and assist in the efficient processing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of laboratory test results on specimens received in the laboratory department to support clinical services in providing quality patient care.
A summary of duties and responsibilities
- Carry out normal laboratory tests and assist with the provision of specific services in clinical reference laboratories and diagnostics laboratories as directed.
- Perform laboratory technical work within acceptable turnaround times in compliance with departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain optimum laboratory practices by documenting and keeping accurate records (logs).
- As a member of the health care team, you will provide a high level of technical service to help with the efficient delivery of patient care.
- Ensure that the equipment in your care is maintained to the standards specified by the department and applicable legislation.
- Implement internal quality control (QC) methods for laboratory practices.
- Assist with research, evaluation of new techniques, and laboratory audits.
- Perform any other duties and obligations as prescribed by your supervisor.
Required Skill or Experience
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent from any recognised Ghanaian university.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar capacity.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- General knowledge and practical analytical abilities in microbiology, haematology/blood transfusion, chemical pathology, and histopathology, as well as concerns of safety and quality assurance.
- Excellent hand dexterity, precise practical and analytical skills.

- Effective communication abilities (verbal and written)
- Good interpersonal skills.

- Excellent customer relationship skills.
