ROLE: Quality Control Analyst
Position Description
This Quality Control (QC) Analyst post has no managerial responsibilities. The applicant’s primary responsibility will be to do laboratory testing on pharmaceutical raw materials, in-process goods, finished products, and packaging materials. The incumbent will spend about 85% of his or her time on the bench and 15% developing QC-related paperwork. He or she will:
- Perform sampling and testing on raw materials, in-process pharmaceutical products, finished pharmaceutical products, and packaging materials.
- Maintain the laboratory’s safety standards and cleanliness.
- Other analysts may be trained to perform critical laboratory procedures.
- Take part in self-inspection and/or audits as needed.
- When necessary, identify and troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Contribute to the creation and revision of quality control processes, policies, standard operating procedures, test methodologies, and specifications.
- Participate in the investigation and reporting of non-conforming work.
- Participate in the periodic calibration and verification of equipment and devices, as well as preventive maintenance.
- carry out any additional tasks that management may assign.
Required Qualifications or Experience
The incumbent must meet the following criteria:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Pharmacy, or any other relevant scientific subject
Experience
- At least three (3) years of experience evaluating the quality of pharmacopoeial papers using the following important equipment: UV-Vis, DT, Sieve Analyzer, Dissolution Tester, TLC, HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer Titrator, Oven, Moisture Analyzer, FTIR, AAS, and more instruments are available. Should also have significant troubleshooting experience in the aforementioned methodologies.
- Communication skills: The candidate should be able to follow verbal and written directions as well as have great written and vocal communication skills for documentation and an effective work relationship.
- He/she is required to be able to prioritize, handle many activities, and meet deadlines, as well as organize and keep data or information.
- Suitable for learning: Candidates must be willing and able to learn by conducting research, observing others, and gaining hands-on experience.
- Integrity: Because QC work is so delicate and affects people’s lives, the candidate must be able to retain integrity, honesty, and transparency at all times.
- Self-motivated/team player: He or she must be able to operate both individually and as part of a team.
- Drive for quality: The applicant must be motivated to consistently improve processes to improve performance.
- Computer skills: A basic working understanding of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint, is required.
