POSITION: Natural Resource Management Manager

CERATH Development Organization (CDO) is a non-profit organization that aims to catalyze African development. CDO is operating in Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. CDO has five major intervention areas. These are (I) Agriculture (II) Fisheries (III) Renewable Energy (IV) Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and (V) Inclusive Finance and Renewable Energy — the organization focuses on uplifting marginalized areas with the ultimate goal of contributing to West Africa’s sustainable development.

Job Description

REPORTING LINES: The Natural Resource Management Officer will report directly to the Country Director.

OPPORTUNITY

CDO is looking for additional talent to strengthen its existing team and make a major contribution to achieving its purpose of driving African development. To that end, CDO is actively looking for a Natural Resources Management (NRM) Manager to support its agriculture and forestry programming team in Ghana.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The chosen applicant will work closely with the agriculture and forestry programming teams to help manage and deliver NRM-related operational operations. Specifically, he or she will:
  • Lead the organization’s regeneration, restoration, and conservation portfolios.
  • Coordinate the implementation of NRM-themed initiatives.
  • Provide technical skills and strategic direction for implementing NRM project activities.
  • Ensure the reporting and recording of all NRM interventions.
  • Contribute technical expertise to NRM grant submissions, initiatives, or programmes.
  • Facilitate NRM training, seminars, and workshops.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Country Director.

Required Skill or Experience

  • Candidates will be judged based on the following criteria:
  • Master’s degree in natural resource management, agricultural science, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least seven (7) years of professional experience with community-based natural resource management.
  • Strong understanding and experience with Ghana’s transitional agroecological and northern terrain.
  • Understanding of current trends and methods in ecosystem-based natural resource management.
  • Capability to organize and lead training and seminars on sustainable natural resource use and protection.
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders (including national governments, local governments, the media, academia, and international organizations) on natural resource and agroecological issues.
  • Proficiency in using ArcGIS, QGIS, and other GIS tools for mapping, presenting, analyzing, and managing spatial data
  • Should know carbon stock assessment and estimation, with expertise in VCS, CCB, the Gold Standard, TREES, and any other recognized standards utilized within Ghana’s environment.
  • Proven analytic and reporting abilities.
  • Proven ability to collaborate, multitask, and adapt.
