The West Africa Network for Peacebuilding, Ghana (WANEP-Ghana) is a non-profit peacebuilding NGO. It is a civil society institution in Ghana that aims to prevent, resolve, and transform violent conflicts through the collective and coordinated efforts of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), local and national state institutions, and individuals actively engaged in peacebuilding practice in order to avoid duplication of efforts and maximize resources for more effective conflict responses. The group aims to help Ghanaian communities cultivate a culture of non-violence, justice, peace, and social healing that will last.
Job Description.
WANEP is a West African sub-regional non-governmental organization whose aim is to encourage and facilitate the creation of mechanisms for cooperation among civil society-based peacebuilding practitioners and organizations in West Africa. It operates offices (National Network Offices) in 15 West African nations. The Ghana office, with its National Secretariat in Tamale, seeks an experienced Accounting Assistant. Successful applicants would be situated in Tamale.
Key Responsibilities
- The position’s responsibilities are:
- Review travel and activity requests in accordance with the approved budgets.
- Prepare the statutory payments.
- Facilitate fast bill payments.
- Review, document, and file cash transactions.
- Invoice processing and filing.
- Processing expense requests for the attention of the grants and finance manager.
- Prepare a monthly bank reconciliation.
- Collaborate with third-party providers, clients, and suppliers to guarantee the timely and successful delivery of goods. Services
- Update and maintain procedural documentation.
- Participate in preparing for the annual financial audit.
- Any other responsibility that may be assigned.
Required Skill or Experience
- Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Requirements include a first degree in accounting and at least four years of relevant experience in NGO work in Ghana.
- Excellent presentation, writing, and reporting skills.
- Competent in the use of Tally and/or QuickBooks, as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Must be a strong team player.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Have good interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Possess initiative and the ability to adapt and manage under pressure.
- Willing to work outside regular hours
- Demonstrates organizational understanding and commitment.
- Ambitious, open to criticism, and ready to learn
- Be culturally attentive.
