- Position: DIRECTOR OF PARTNERSHIPS, ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INVESTMENTS
- Reports to: Executive Director of GCIC
Job Purpose
The Provider is being engaged to assist the Centre in achieving its goal of becoming a distinguished Centre of Excellence for climate-smart business incubation and entrepreneurship, leading the shift towards a low-carbon economy via SME-driven private enterprises. The Director of Partnerships, Entrepreneurship, and Investments will assist the Centre’s Executive Director in implementing the Centre’s business strategy and will also manage the creation and implementation of all GCIC’s entrepreneurship support initiatives at the GCIC School of Sustainable Entrepreneurship®, which includes a cohort-driven accelerator program and a technology incubation initiative.
As the GCIC embarks on an important and thrilling stage of its growth, moving beyond the financial backing of its initial donors, this is a pivotal role for the GCIC that requires a highly skilled and adaptable person who thrives in an entrepreneurial setting. The chosen candidate will join the GCIC executive team, collaborating closely with and reporting to the Executive Director of GCIC.
Duties and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, develops and outlines the advancement of GCIC’s complete range of services; managing early and growth stage business advisory services of the Centre for supported enterprises.
- Oversees resources and access to them for entrepreneurs supported by GCIC; guiding the financing access, grant application, distribution, and management processes for these entrepreneurs.
- Collaborates with the GCIC Marketing and Communications Director to align marketing and outreach initiatives.
- Assists the Executive Director in fundraising efforts for the Centre’s medium to long-term viability, spearheading the creation and submission of suitable funding proposals with relevant partners and organizations.
- Assists the Executive Director in carrying out activities related to the Policy Advocacy for a Green Economy Workstream.
- Establish enduring connections and form strategic collaborations and partnerships with diverse stakeholders and global donors within the international entrepreneurship and climate change landscape.
- Acts as a productive link between GCIC’s internal and external parties.
- Engages in national and global forums, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership activities representing the Centre.
- Manages GCIC’s operational procedures to guarantee excellent customer satisfaction.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline. An MBA or a similar advanced degree is highly preferred.
- Having a minimum of 12 years of experience in delivering strategic business advisory services, management consulting, or customized advisory services for small and growing enterprises would be a valuable asset.
- Previous leadership experience in an early and growth phase company, along with an understanding of and familiarity with the main challenges faced by typical start-ups.
- Familiarity with and experience operating at the crossroads of private business, climate change, climate initiatives, and economic growth.
- Troubleshooter skilled in strategic, lateral, and creative thinking.
- Outstanding organizer and compelling facilitator, with proven abilities in building partnerships.
- Exceptional presentation and communication abilities (including public speaking), with the capacity to effectively engage and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Dedication to implementing GCIC’s gender-sensitive and gender-equitable strategy for business incubation, guaranteeing that all of GCIC’s initiatives equally affect both men and women participating in the incubator and accelerator.
- Capacity to represent the GCIC in both local and international venues, engaging with prominent thinkers and stakeholders within the climate-smart entrepreneurship ecosystems at home and abroad.
- A genuine enthusiasm for entrepreneurs and the network that aids start-ups in the area.
