POSITION: Local Category Specialist

Key Purpose Statement
The Local Category Specialist serves as the primary contact for procurement inquiries, manages local purchasing requests, and ensures the implementation of effective contracts.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Planning Procurement Activities:
- Guide departments on procurement compliance and procedures.
- Develop and update departmental procedures.
- Prepare technical specifications for requests for proposals.
- Manage local purchase requisitions in line with strategies.
Requisitions and Approval Process:
- Check and process requisitions via IBIS, and follow up on approvals.
Purchase Order (P.O) Management:
- Consolidate and send P.O.s to suppliers.
- Follow up on deliveries and close delivered P.O.s.
Expediting Orders:
- Expedite outstanding orders to meet delivery requirements.
- Resolve issues with end users and suppliers.
P.O and GRN Process:
- Align P.O.s with delivered items and resolve invoice discrepancies.
Employee Relations:
- Foster a positive work environment and communication among employees.
Procurement Excellence:
- Collaborate to improve procurement practices and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications:
- Minimum: HND in Purchasing and Supply.
- Preferred: Degree in economics or a related field.
- Experience: 2–5 years in procurement, with a background in supplier selection and contracting.
Competencies:
- Ability to drive organization performance, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively.
- Strong analytical skills, integrity, and a collaborative mindset.
